Seating barriers for @frankiesmoderndiner on Government Street. Frank approached us with the desire to achieve a more elegant look, similar to glass. We used a thicker acrylic which provides confidence visually as it mimics the thickness of glass. With our laser cutter we were able to ensure a crystal clear edge, again, similar to the polished look of glass. The benefit of using acrylic is that we can cut the material to our own specifications to fit our mounting solution. In this case we left a slight gap on the bottom to allow adequate cleaning and topped the barriers with the Frankie’s chevron

Barriers for @governmentofbc new Sharespace in James Bay

We worked with an instagram personality who calls himself Toolaholic (in Toronto, ON). He was seeking some re-branding and an icon that would be suitable to vinyl wrap his new work van with matte black and silver. Ultimately he opted to retain his current casual identity that is his own handwriting, but it was a fun project regardless!

Our client tasked us with a custom desk. Also being an avid gamer, they wanted an identity for social media and twitch for live streaming. Two main criteria Aaron had for the logo was to represent the lgbtq+ community as well as to incorporate a tiger- here is our design.

The life of a custom walnut cutting board

More than just staying safe - Designing trust back into our physical spaces: One of the major concerns regarding re-opening is that potential customers wont return, due in large part because they dont want to sacrifice their health and safety for non-necessary items like a coffee. Part of our task as designers is to come up with creative solutions to reinstitute trust back into consumers so that they not only want to visit new spaces, but feel safe and comfortable doing so.... The Shape team is developing a full package to simplify the opening process for small businesses and large government services. We have spent hours consulting with WorkSafeBC, sourcing relevant projections and requirements from various agencies, and simplifying it to deliver to you. We want to help you spend less time worrying about COVID and more time generating business. Our goal is to provide: 1) Physical Barriers designed to the requirements of Local government agencies. 2) Information Stickers to increase the efficiency of the space. The virus is stressful enough without having to think about where to stand. 3) Provide sanitation or physical distancing options on a day-to-day basis, like our COVID KEY. Working prototype of our Sneeze Guard. Some minor modifications to be made on the production versions. Production to begin next week. Limited options available for clear barriers. Multiple suppliers have told us that clear acrylic is sold out for 1-6 months. We have enough for 25 barriers and are working to find an alternative for those businesses who do not solidify a pre-order.... Thank you to everyone for the ongoing support!

What an amazing response we have had from the public. We are thankful that our project has had so much support and in turn we are able to give 5 local businesses a little boost of $500 each. Lets help 5 more! Spring/Summer is often very lucrative for small businesses, and with the lost tourism revenue, this impact will go on much longer than just the period that businesses are closed. We are already on our way to our next $5,000 goal! So far we have shipped all over Canada a...nd the USA! Please continue to share this. According to stats canada: There are approx 517,000 businesses in Canada. Of which 98% are SMALL businesses (~508,000). About 35% of Canadas GDP is from small business. Vancouver Island has 1 small business for every 10 people..which equals just less than 90,000 small businesses. On Vancouver Island, small business pays the wages for 30% of the citizens (approx 300,000 people). If of those businesses do not reopen that will be 100,000 people without jobs! Working on sneeze guard concepts for businesses. We imagine that most businesses will either require or choose to have sneeze guards at their registers upon being permitted to reopen. Reach out to us, we would love to work on something that is more aesthetically pleasing and functional than the typical 2x4 and plexi.

With all of the doctors and nurses putting their lives on the line, we decided to show our appreciation on behalf of the city of Victoria. Our designer John stayed home and put together this file while Jordan went to the shop and assembled it with what was available without having to step foot in a hardware store. We have been self isolating at home for the last few days but decided that this cause was important.... If you have a sealed box of n95 masks at home that you think you can do without, please take them to the hospital, or if you dont feel safe leaving the house feel free to reach out to us and we will take them for you. #sendlovedonategloves If anyone wants the file to make one for their local hospital, let us know and we will send it free of charge.
