Self-Help Connection 24.01.2021

Imagine....walking in Paul’s shoes, he now has a shelter, a pair of warm boots, a watch, a few supports and is holding onto hope...for a real home and returning to work. Shame on those who want to tear it down. The stats say we have 500 people without shelter, I believe the numbers are higher it’s impossible to count the invisible people. Thoughts?

Our fellow Peer in Wellness WRAP facilitator and Facilitator of Eastern Shore Mental Health ( ESMH)Anita Carter-Rose shone a light on the frightening reality of rural hospitals emergency closures. I experienced it late one night when we were in need, drove into Cobequid and did not know until we got there it was closed. And that was pre COVID times...Thanks to Anita for advocating for those in need, always a support!

What is your self-affirmation? "Affirmations, also called self-affirmations, are thoughts you intentionally come up with to support, encourage, and calm your brain and body. They can be positive statements used to challenge negative, depressing, or anxiety-producing thoughts and beliefs. They can also just be general supportive thoughts providing encouragement. Affirmations can be used to influence your thinking patterns, behavioral habits, health, and moods." Lifework, it doesn’t stop Friday at 5. I hope everyone has a safe weekend and finds time for healing. Sort through your wellness tools, think about plans you may have created around triggers and early warning signs that things may be breaking down, I know I am. It is a lot of reflection and deep digging, hard work to look at yourself first. Be kind and gentle with yourself when doing this work.
