Our Programs Coordinator Nancy Hannah "jumped right in" with meals for Orillia Youth Haven this week, created using surplus ingredients from The Sharing Place and a lot of time and talent from our great volunteers!

The Sharing Place is looking for Volunteers who are prepared and willing to assist us with our day-to-day operations during and beyond COVID-19. We are searching for compassionate hardworking people who can commit to one 45-hour volunteer shift every week. A variety of roles and positions are available, training is provided, and all public health COVID-19 safety protocols will be maintained. The most urgent need is for the volunteer Intake role - If you are comfortable answe...ring phones, taking grocery orders, updating member accounts on the computer, and have good customer service skills, please contact Melissa Franklin, our Member Services Coordinator at [email protected] for more information. With the lockdown closing our local schools once again, we at The Sharing Place remain committed to ensuring that the youth in our community are still able to access healthy school safe snacks. This week in partnership with the Orillia Youth Centre and Youth Haven Orillia we are sending out hundreds of snack bags to the youth in our community who are in "Virtual" school, safely at home. Do you, or your agency, need assistance feeding youth in our community? Please call us at The Sharing Place and we will be more than happy to assist.

After an ambitious day in the kitchen on Thursday, The Sharing Place team created 100 servings of Chicken, Rice and Curried Lentils and 180 servings of Bean and Bacon Soup! Bringing our weekly total to 596 meals to be given out to our community in addition to their regular food order! Amazing job team!!... We are back from a great day of cooking in the St James kitchen. This is what we made today - 100 BBQ Chicken Dinners with Rice and Veg and 216 portions of Spaghetti Sauce! ... Round 2 of cooking takes place on Thursday - Check back later this week to see what we make!

After a 2 week break the volunteer team and I are excited to get back into the kitchen today with a goal to create 400 ready to eat meals for our community. Here are the surplus ingredients we are working with this session; and I'm curious, what would you make?? I'll show you what we create later today! Ground Pork, Chicken Quarters, frozen mixed vegetables, rice, red and green lentils and tomato soup.

If you would like to participate in the 2020 Homelessness Enumeration Survey and have an opportunity to provide your input stop by the Sharing Place on Monday November 23rd between 10:30 - 2:30 pm. Participants will receive a $10 gift card upon completion of the survey.

The Sharing Place Food Centre is excited to welcome Melissa Franklin, Member Experience Coordinator, to our team. Melissa is a recent graduate of the Social Services Worker program at Georgian College and began volunteering here as part of the student placement program over a year ago. Help us in welcoming Melissa to the TSP team!

Thank you to St. David Anglican Lutheran Church, Pastor Lori Pilatzke and Sandy Donald, member of the St. David Outreach Committee for donating $1000 to our School Fuel Program! This program is currently feeding over 1000 students at 16 local schools each morning, and this generous donation helps us to continue to do good work in our community.
