Frosty detail at a Three Sisters sunrise.
When the sun has risen and the light gets harsh, look for smaller detailed shots. The frosty morning gave me great subject matter.
Thanks for featuring my two images @banffcanada
Playing with video, a compilation of video and images I shot around Calgary.
For all my friends and family in I have a new e-commerce site which promises to offer great prices and shipping options if you would like to order one of my prints. It might be an idea for a last minute Christmas gift. Give it a whirl https://andrew-sharp-brilliantly-sharp-photography.picfair.

Goodnight 2020! See ya next year Instagram!
Post 1/5, sneak preview of some of the shots from my 2021 Landscape calendar. I decided to put together a calendar of images and sell them to raise money for JDRF. I never got to experience diabetes camp as I was diagnosed in my 30s but so admire the work @jdrf_canada does. 8.5 x 11 calendar $35.00, %50 of profits go to JDRF ____________________... More previews to come. You can also check out the images on my website www.brilliantlysharp.com For more information on JDRF check out this link. https://www.jdrf.ca/
Cuz, not every day is perfect! Yesterday evening I had one small bag of crisps paid for it all night! Today has been better walked almost 5K and narrowly avoided a hypo! I decided to drink a quarter bottle of coke before going out in preparation. Did you know..... a diabetic will make 180 more health related decisions per day than a non diabetic?
I enjoyed more Sunrises in 2020 than I ever did before. Getting better at rising early as I get older
It’s that time! My annual calendar is available. This year I’m going with a 8.5 x 11 size calendar for $35.00 plus tax and shipping. %50 of profits donated to JDRF https://www.jdrf.ca//inc/themes/Foundation/images/logo.png
Bear with me while I tell you a grizzly tale. Just about my favourite day in 2020. While driving the Smith Dorrien Trail I came across this beauty. Such an amazing experience to make eye contact with a Grizzly Bear, through my camera’s viewfinder of course. I was glad for two things 1) that he seemed more intent on dandelions than me and 2) that I had a very long lens on my camera.
Technology is amazing. What a stable day. Couldn’t do it without my #dexcomg6 and my #omnipod insulin pump.
Hold the front page........ The Bears left some berries? Maybe only 15% capacity limits were in force at this bush and the berries socially distanced
Missing autumn walks in the woods.
Wild horses, K country. Always a thrill to see these beauties.
Some bird shots for you this Friday evening. An American Avocet; a Sandpiper and a Merlin.
Thanks for the instalove @connorshootsyt
Sunrise with the Three Sisters
Thanks for the instalove @yyc_cherrroy
Sunrise power in Albert’s Rocky Mountains.
My morning Monday December 27th (I think).
My most popular (liked) Instagram images in 2020. Thank you all for your support. Happy New Year.
Moon set over the Rocky Mountains.
Just Hanging around.
Not bad for a Christmas Day which came along with a pump malfunction! New pod inserted and soon back in range. Lots of good food and a few candy’s as well! Yum yum nom nom.
The amazing Marble Canyon In BC’s Yoho National Park.
So glad to be working from home at the moment.
Wishing it was autumn again.
From the ground to the sky. The magnificent Telus Sky again, showing a different light formation.
The Telus Sky building framed by the Hotel Germain entrance.
It’s starting to feel a bit like Christmas. Christmas visited this cool sculpture called Device to root out evil by Dennis Oppenheim.
Joanne, you don’t know it, but you are about to save my life! And I’m not even being dramatic. Last nights crazy hypo! All good today.
More great Calgary public art. The Calgary Tower cannot let the new kids in the block get all the credit though
Congratulations @selenadrakeart @mr_richard_bruce for receiving delivery of my calendar today and thank you for contributing to @jdrf_canada I think there is still time to get your order in before Christmas. Definitely the new year.
The things you see while driving the prairies. I really appreciate a province with such diverse ecosystems and habitats.
Prom dress revisited. Photo shoot from 10 years ago when Chantelle told me about this cool fake metal piano in her neighborhood. She leapt at the chance to dress up in her prom dress again. The his was shot with an Olympus E500 and a kit lens. The E500 has a 8mp processor which is a way less powerful processor than this phone has now! It’s not all about the tech!
A nice place to watch the sun rise.
Told you I’d be back at this tree.
Momma Black bear from my summer trip on the Ice-fields parkway.
A short video of images from my autumn sunrise trip at the start of November. Enjoy!
That time in August when I felt colder than I do in December it was soooo windy!
Mother Nature went a bit crazy with the saturation slider this morning! Super intense sunrise, why am I not in the mountains and why is my camera at home!!!!
I STAYED HOME! I can’t believe I stayed home this weekend and worked on a project in the house. Of course we had warm weather for the end of November! I always look out for the light though and caught this banging sunset at the end of the day. The only subject I could find was my truck though! Love how the light is caught in the body lines.
Lines! I love fall road trips, the first snow on the mountains creates beautiful patterns.
Blue hour pre sunrise from a couple a weekends ago.
Inspiration means little without action right? Artist friends, a possible collaboration here. First image is of a used insulin pump. It’s called an Omnipod, carries three days worth of insulin and I have a bunch of used ones. I would love to stick these to a canvas and paint a portrait on them. I feel like it may have a cool 3D effect. I’d like to try a portrait of Doctor Banting the discoverer of insulin (second image). I know several artists follow me and I’m hoping you can help cuz I can’t paint!
Missing summer sunrises. The beautiful two Jack lake in Banff National Park.
This is my new favourite tree. I’ll be visiting here as much as I can.
Repping the international symbol for Diabetes at work today for #ndam #nationaldiabetesawarenessmonth. Swipe right to see my reward! A flipping . Yeah!
Today’s challenge for National Diabetes awareness Month is Diabetes super hero/ Heroine This was a no brainer for me. Kim was the Diabetes educator who figured out I had actually been misdiagnosed as a type 2. Even though my Endocrinologist argued against it I persisted and had my antibodies tested. Sure enough I was type 1. This changed my life immensely. Trying to manage Type 1 is complex but trying to manage it as a type 2 is even more confusing! Thanks Kim, and all the other CDEs out there you do an amazing job.
This shot is from a few years ago when this sculpture was in the Ramsay area of Calgary. Since then it has spent a few years in Vancouver before returning to #yyc to be sited in the east village. Isn’t it cool that art can travel around the country.
Aspen Bend in K Country! I miss Autumn sunrises.
Diabetic roll call ! My waking number this morning. Not too bad. Between 4&8 we’re feeling great! #ndam #nationaldiabetesawarenessmonth
The mountains are bursting with light. One fantastic night in the mountains from 2017.
A bit of Aurora glow and the lights of Drumheller from a few weeks ago.
Today’s challenge for November Diabetes Awareness Month is Dreams and Goals. Sometimes, like in picture 2, the mountains in front of you seem massive and insurmountable but if you keep on keeping on you can overcome these challenges and achieve your goals. My goal is to start a You Tune Channel. I have brought a gimbal, taken a bunch of videos of myself and am getting more comfortable being in front of the camera for a change What are your goals?
Calgary has a ton of great public art, like this piece by Derek Besant. The great stuff far outweighs the occasional controversial pick. People don’t realize that part of art’s purpose it to provoke.
300 year old stone bridge I used to cycle across on my way to work back in Peterborough . It’s been too long Britain, as soon as this crazy virus is defeated I will be back home for a visit.
