LOVE FOR RASULULLAH TRANSFORMS LOVE IN ALL OUR RELATIONSHIPS His Eminence Shaykh Faisal Hamid Abdur-Razak Love has a striking importance in the life of many. It is how we measure self-worth and a sense of purposeful living. A deep sense of love and connection gives us strength and poise, easing any anxiety about an unsure tomorrow. Love is what roots us. As Muslims, we know that we must love our Creator, Almighty Allah (SWT). For the uninitiated, it may feel like that is ...an abstract concept; what does it actually mean to love God? Our ‘Ulama, following the best example of Sayyiduna Rasulullah , teach us that there is in fact a more clear-cut formula to understand. Almighty Allah (SWT) Says in the Qur’an, in Surah tul Ali ‘Imran, ayah 31: Say, to the Believers, O Muhammad, if you sincerely love Almighty Allah, then follow me; and Almighty Allah will Love you and Forgive your sins. For Almighty Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And so we can begin to understand love as a step ladder. Firstly, loving Sayyiduna Rasulullah can be best understood and modelled after the Sahabah, who would look through a window of devotion to gaze upon His Nobility . And then loving and showing devotion to Sayyiduna Rasulullah , is showing love and devotion to Almighty Allah (SWT) Above All Else. From here the ‘Ulama go into even further detail about how bringing Mahabbatur Rasul into your life, and finding purposeful living through it, transforms the love in all our relationships. Whether that be in our relationship with our spouse, our parents, our children, our fellow Muslims, or a fellow human being. Regardless of what relationship it is, Mahabbatur Rasul purifies that love. And we ask Almighty Allah (SWT) to Enrich our lives with Mahabbatur Rasul, to bring us closer to Sayyiduna Rasulullah , and to Raise his Noble Maqam. Ameen.
