Starting a chilly day off right...

At Senior Helpers Mississauga, our Caregivers utilize an APP that allows them to enter notes after a shift with a client. The family of the client is then notified when an entry is made, so everyone is kept up to speed on any changes of condition, things the home might need, etc. Below is a note one of our Caregivers left today - I've redacted the client's names. The family has asked our Caregiver to compile a grocery list and put it in the APP so everyone can have access... to it...FYI, Lucky is the client's dog! "I made an egg salad sandwich for lunch. XXX and XXX joined us for lunch. We made the chicken for Lucky. We also made spaghetti sauce for tomorrow. We went outside with Lucky but it was cold for him. Shopping list: Toaster bread, small frozen lasagna, regular plain chips, napkins, roll of paper towel, treats for Lucky, and a 40 ounce bottle of scotch (that's what aunt XXX wants)"

Senior Helpers Mississauga provides private in-home care to senior clients in Mississauga and west Etobicoke. We are growing and are looking for qualified, caring, & compassionate Companion Caregivers to join our team of Caregivers. We need Companion Caregivers that can work weekdays, weekends, and even some overnight / temporary live-in shifts! What do we look for in a Companion Caregiver:... - you're caring & compassionate, and want to make a difference in a seniors life. Yes, you're being paid to do this role, but we want people who aren't in it for the paycheque. - you're mature trustworthy, reliable, professional, and flexible. - you have a drivers license and access to a car. Our Caregivers work in our client's homes, so a vehicle is necessary. - you live in Mississauga, west Etobicoke or east Oakville. - if you speak more than one language, that is a bonus! We occasionally have clients request a Caregiver that speaks their native language. Our Caregiver's minimum shift length is 3 hours (they can be longer) and we focus on providing quality care. Our Caregivers are not rushed, they are there to enrich the client's live and allow the client to age with grace & dignity in their homes - and to provide the client's family with peace of mind that their loved one is being cared for! Our Companion Caregivers offer our clients companionship & socialization; help around the house with light housekeeping / decluttering / laundry; assistance with meal prep; medication reminders; in some cases our Caregivers will accompany the client to medical appointments, grocery shopping, the community centre / library, etc; plus more! This Thursday, OCT 1, is National Seniors Day, and CARP (Canadian Association of Retired People) is hosting Canada's largest ever virtual meeting of seniors in honour of older people in our communities.
