UPDATE: Order 1A Introduced for Additional Clarity Local Emergency Orders Now In Effect Following the declaration of a State of Local Emergency at the March 23...rd Council Meeting, and consideration of recommendations from local health care providers, the Emergency Operations Centre is issuing the following orders effective March 24th, 2020. Order # 1: Pursuant to Section 12 (1) of the BC Emergency Program Act an ORDER THAT: ALL FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC TRAVELERS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES WORKERS, MUST SELF-ISOLATE FOR 14-DAYS Order # 1A: (Replaces Order #1 Above) Pursuant to Section 12 (1) of the BC Emergency Program Act an ORDER THAT: ALL FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC TRAVELERS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ESSENTIAL AND NECESSARY SERVICE WORKERS, MUST SELF-ISOLATE FOR 14-DAYS. ALL EXCEPTIONS OF ESSENTIAL AND NECESSARY SERVICE WORKERS COMING FROM OUTSIDE OF PRINCE RUPERT MUST TRAVEL ONLY TO AND FROM WORK OTHERWISE MUST SELF-ISOLATE FOR 14-DAYS. *Please note that when they are not going to and from work, quarantine principles will be applied to essential service workers, who must self isolate outside of their respective workplaces. To achieve effective quarantine please have enough food provisions and fuel to be able to be self contained in your living quarters until your return to your home in the neighbouring community. Order # 2: Pursuant to Section 12 (1) of the BC Emergency Program Act an ORDER THAT: ALL GROCERIES STORES IN PRINCE RUPERT: WILL LIMIT TO 50 PEOPLE AT ONE TIME. PEOPLE WILL BE GREETED AT THE ENTRANCES AND WILL BE PROVIDED WITH HAND SANITIZER. ENTRY AND EXIT WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE ENTRANCE. ALL PATRONS AT THE CHECKOUT LINES WILL MAINTAIN TWO METERS (6 FEET) BETWEEN EACH PERSON. ESTABLISHMENTS WILL CREATE MARKERS ON THE FLOOR WHERE CARTS/BUGGIES MAY BE PLACED IN ORDER TO ENSURE DISTANCE IS MET. RATIONS AND LIMITS ON CERTAIN ITEMS MAY BE IMPOSED ON THE RECOMMEDATIONS FROM LOCAL EMERGENCY PERSONNEL & HEALTH PROFESSIONALS. These orders have been issued by the City of Prince Rupert due to immediate danger to life safety caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. With respect to other businesses operating in Prince Rupert, the City will follow current and future Provincial and Federal orders with respect to other business operations.
