Missing gardening season already? We still have some jars of pickled beans and tubs of freezer pickles available to satisfy your garden-fresh cravings!

Curling clubs across Ontario are struggling to make ends meet with reduced memberships/income and massive operating costs, our club included. That's why these Sport Trust Funds have been set up to help get them through this difficult time. If you are able, please consider helping Peterborough Curling Club keep its doors open - tax receipts are available! Our garden would not exist without PCC! Stay safe and hurry hard https://www.sport4ontario.ca/project-179---peterborough-cur
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Beyond thankful for everyone who helped make this community garden a reality, and in the midst of a global pandemic! Here's to many years to come fostering community and teaching people about sustainability and growing food
Such a wonderful initiative - reach out if you are able to help! #communitygardensunite
When the garden is put to bed for the winter it's time to bring the green inside! House plants are one of my guilty pleasures. I've been busy propagating some plant babies so you all can green up your living spaces! There are 10 spider plants and 3 pothos available all in 4" pots for $4 each!
Surprise salsa! We have just whipped up another batch of fresh salsa and there are 5 jars available for $4 each (jars are slightly smaller than those in the picture). Get those tortilla chips ready! *SOLD OUT*
Thank you so much to today's volunteers who helped get the last of the raised beds prepared for winter! In the spring they'll get filled with quality soil and be ready for our first community gardeners to start planting!
Garlic is one of the easiest crops to grow. Why not try planting a few cloves and try it out! Now is the perfect time to plant garlic - check out this video for lots of great tips!
Enjoying some of the last flowers in the garden
Thank you to the volunteers that came out and helped harvest the carrots! They ended up growing better than expected! The tomato, bean, and pea plants were also removed and added to the compost pile. It's sad to see the garden getting cleared up!
Frost warnings certainly spring us into action! Harvested the remaining tomatoes to save them from frost. Read that to help them ripen indoors you wrap each tomato in a piece of newspaper and put them in a box two layers deep - fingers crossed it works!
Fall cleanup has started in the garden ()! All the delicata squash have been harvested and will be distributed between garden volunteers and the vines ripped out and added to the compost pile. The giant sunflower head was also cut so we can save the seeds to plant even more sunflowers next year! The pumpkins are set to be turned into a little thank you gift to our wonderful watering team that helped our garden thrive in its first year!
Love seeing these guys in the garden! The presence of earthworms in the soil are an indicator of a healthy garden. Their activity is beneficial because they help enhance soil nutrient cycling, soil structure, and water movement, ultimately helping plant growth!
Happy Friday, everyone! What a beautiful visitor we had in the garden recently Just a reminder that we still have some garden goodies available, the previous post is up to date with availability
Veggies aren't the only gift the garden gives us
Had a wonderful harvest of potatoes! Can't believe how big they got! These guys were split between our volunteer waterers as thanks for all their hard work keeping the garden growing
Love seeing pollinators enjoying the garden!
