A couple weeks into the lock down, I started hearing people talk about the silver linings. One positive change people were noticing was a change in pace. Working from home or not having anywhere to go, allowed people to move more slowly. Some of the rushing was taken out of our daily lives. Have you been able to hold onto it? Now that things are opening up is the fast lane calling you or better yet, creeping back into your normal? It is for me. This change is insidious and h...appens without us noticing. As you already know, I am a huge proponent of slow. I think it is very important for our health and wellbeing. For people struggling with chronic stress, your nervous system is already running at a high level. Almost all of us need to practice taking the rushing out of life, gearing down, therefore letting our nervous system rest. Going slow doesn't usually happen automatically, unless you are told to shelter in place because of a global pandemic. You have to set an intention. Notice when you are going slow and how it feels. Remember your lock down silver lining. Just to set the record straight, this is me giving myself some good advice :)

Anybody else struggling with this? I find that I am struggling with staying in the present almost as much as when Covid first hit. I am aware of all the numbers going in the right direction here in Ontario. I am also aware of the fact that we have no Covid positive patients in the ICU right now, but somehow I am tending to worry about the future. I am worried about the second wave. Now that I have the glorious freedom to treat patients face to face as a Naturopath, I don't w...ant to lose it. Before Covid, we never thought we could lose our freedom to interact face to face. We are in a new reality. This new and precious freedom might not last. It would be a shame to waste this time worrying about the future. This time is precious. Join me as I commit to present moment awareness. Leave the future where it is. How does your body feel right now? Take a deep breath. I invite you to explore meditation. Meditation more than anything else, helps me stay present. Good luck!
