Saw a few flakes out there today (snowflakes! ) which means it's time for winter tires! If you have old tires lying around, please recycle them. It's EASY -... take them to any local garage or store that sells tires. There is no charge to drop them off. However, due to limited storage space, there is a drop-off limit of five tires. Tires are processed at TRACC in Minto, and made into new rubber products like livestock mattresses for dairy operations across North America and overseas, rubber gaskets for use in manufacturing, noise and shock suppression materials, bases for road construction signs and bark mulch. FYI - Commercial operators, or anyone with a large number of tires for recycling, should contact Recycle NB at 1-888-322-8473. You can also visit their website for all info on tire recycling and other programs! recyclenb.com

2021 - What CAN go in your bin? See our updated sheet. This will be also be on the flip side of your 2021 recycling schedules, being mailed out soon! What's n...ew? Cartons! (rinse out, shake out excess water, flatten them, put the cap back on, put in bin) Please don't put any bags, plastic wraps, or styrofoam products in your bin, even if they have a recycling symbol on them We still see too many of these items coming in. THANKS!

Tuesday's Tip Blue Bin Basics! IMPORTANT!! There are a lot of new residents in our region (welcome!) so here are some basic tips for curbside recycling ...... 1.Your bin should be out the night before collection. 2.It should be one meter away from other objects 3.The front of your bin should face the road 4.All items must be IN the bin - no recycling left outside of the bin will be taken (these are COVID rules) 5.Don't use blue bins for garbage 6.Sanitize your bins when you can (please) If you have moved into our region and your house doesn't have a blue bin (previous owners took it? someone stole it? it's a new build so never had one) you need to purchase one from a local hardware store. They are an IPL 360L blue tip cart. Prices vary so call around and they occasionally go on sale. All bins were distributed in 2018 upon implementation. If you are moving, please don't take your blue bin with you. When the program was implemented 2018, the bins were purchased and dropped at each civic address and should remain there. If you see an empty house, please do not help yourself to the blue bin. That is theft of property. If your blue bin is overflowing every month, try to compress your items to make more space. Purchase items that have less packaging and try to purchase less in general. Take extra recycling to one of the 7 depots (listed on our website), or consider purchasing a second bin based on your location (BUT please review this with us first!) Thanks. Any questions, please message us.
