ROADS AND SHELTER UPDATE Dufferin County Last evening several motorists were stranded on local roads due to blizzard conditions. County staff arranged for two shelters to be opened: Honeywood Fire Hall (County Road 21) and Community Living Dufferin (065371 County Road 3). No additional shelters have been opened at this time.... The County Emergency Operations Centre has been activated at the County municipal office in Orangeville. The OPP has snowmobiles coming from the Bracebridge area to help with retrieving people from their vehicles. Here’s what is known at this time: Roads Roads are deemed to be closed. Do not try to travel on any County of Dufferin Roads. Paramedics Paramedics are at full capacity and one ambulance has been stuck. Waste Pick Up GFL (the County’s waste contractor) will not be collecting waste today in the Monday Zones. For those affected, please double-up your garbage next week. Feral Cat Rescue’s cease and desist upheld after extension request The cease and desist order issued to the Feral Cat Rescue is due to be enforced October 10. The Rescue came to Council on Monday night asking for a nine month extension of that date.... This summer, Sharon Morden was offered a free lease for a property in Melancthon by local artist Kimberley Goddard. In subsequent consultations with the Melancthon planner, Chris Jones, it was requested that a presentation be made to Melancthon Council, to explain the operation and to allow councillors to ask questions. It was determined, that a business-specific by-law amendment and re-zoning application would be required to allow the rescue to relocate to the offered cow pasture.

2nd Annual Savour Shelburne celebrates Culture Days The second annual Savour Shelburne will take place on downtown Main Street in Shelburne, on Friday, September 29th from 5 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 30 from 10 am-2 pm. Savour Shelburne celebrates Culture Days Weekend, and organizing member Sohayla Smith says it offers a variety of hands-on participation-focused activities and experiences for the community to enjoy for free.
