My friends Emma, Nick and I had a wonderful winter wonderland maternity session planned out. And then of course... lock down (womp womp). This lockdown is important. Stopping the spread is important. Keeping everyone safe is important. But my heart is also broken because these milestones can’t be rescheduled. You can’t just hold off on having your baby or push your due date infinitely until the pandemic is over. So here’s what I did: (this was of course before the stay home r...ule was in effect) I found a ZERO contact, safe way to document this moment for them. I stood on Emma and Nick’s porch (alone... with a step ladder) in front of their window, I called them and had them pop me on speaker phone. I posed them, and I documented their chapter. Safely. That is all. I thiiiiink this will be a service I offer after lockdown... it looks so intimate and romantic, and how cool does the reflection look?!

Here's what I'm hoping to get up to in 2021

I’m SO EXCITED to finally be able to share this with you all! Shelby Andrews Photography, #REBORN A couple of months ago I opened up about feeling like I was in a rut. Things weren’t sitting quite right: I was unmotivated, losing confidence in my work and my brand was no longer feeling like me. The word I used to describe this feeling was actually mundane. Mundane is the WORST feeling for creatives. I hate feeling like my work is bland and I’m not delivering my best produ...ct to clients. But, these dark, lack of inspiration moments can also be the most inspiring when used correctly. It is in these moments we are forced to take risks. To push forward and make changes. So that’s what I did. I made some tweaks to my editing, I scouted out some new locations, I sought inspiration and advice from some of my favourite photographers, and then I contacted my beautiful new friend @ladyb.creative I’ve been in business for almost two years now, and while my old logo & branding was a perfect fit for me back then, I’ve grown and changed so much as an artist over the past two years. Seana helped me create a brand that expressed this growth and exactly who I am as a photographer now. This new Shelby Andrews Photography logo + assets are quirky, whimsical, sun, moon & stars obsessed (fun fact: I stole a moon and star patterned blanked from my best friend in 9th grade and still insist on sleeping with it every night to this day... Yes. I am 26. No. I do not have any shame about this). It’s warm, earthy and comforting. And it feels exactly like me
