Just wanted to post and show a strategy we are using on the US30 (Dow Jones) which is performance of the 30 largest publicly owned companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. This strategy we use is called the consolidation breakout. We will wait for a series of candles to consolidate over a period of time. This case we use the 5 minute time frame. Consolidate means price moving sideways for a bit We will then box the price just above the average high of the wicks and a...verage low of the wicks. We will wait until price breaks above or below the box before entering the trade. We will only enter if we have confirmation of good momentum. This is a scalping strategy so we are in and out within minutes. We have been honing in and practicing this like crazy as the US30 has a great risk to reward with great volatility but you need to understand how it moves. This is no beginner play. But with practice you can watch and learn the movements and understand when to get in and out of a trade.
