"I am appalled by this post (on Facebook) that suggests that our MP has had any dialogue with North Island Mayors or leaders and workers in the Aquaculture industry. This is simply not true." While you have been clear on your position to move aquaculture to a land-based industry, you have at no time engaged with any of us, nor have you acknowledged the realities of the advancements in technology, the science, and the sustainability of the industry in the region that you repr...esent." ~Mayor Andy Adams, Campbell River #CoastalJobsGone Grieg Seafood BC Ltd Cermaq Canada Mowi Canada West Bernadette Jordan Terry Beech, MP Andy Adams Campbell River Gaby Wickstrom - Mayor of Port McNeill Brad Unger Dennis Brian Dugas
Grieg Seafood's plan to invest $25 million for a hatchery expansion in Gold River and a $200 million project planned for the north island are now being questioned. These investments provide work and boost our local economy. Bernadette Jordan and Justin Trudeau Liberals made a decision with little regard to the fall out of their decision. They ignored the report Fisheries and Oceans Canada released on September 28, 2020 stating pathogens in the Discovery Islands posed minimal... risk to wild salmon, based on its scientific assessments. Rachel Blaney MP for North Island - Powell River has offered to find "ways to strengthen our work force in this sector". How does this happen when it no longer exists? An 8 month logging strike showed us what happens when an industry is shut down. The impact was significant and this decision is too. Meanwhile, we are still waiting on a plan to address wild salmon stocks. #CoastalJobsGone Cermaq Canada Grieg Seafood BC Ltd MOWI BC Salmon Farmers Association

Speaking about the debt, Freeland said the Trudeau government "will impose those LIMITS upon itself, rather than waiting for the more brutal external restraints of international capital markets." Is the sky the limit?

Today we remember all those who have served in the past and are serving today. The freedoms we enjoy today were not free. There was a cost. Many paid with their lives and many others continue to pay every day as they struggle with PTSD. To all who have served and are serving, Thank you for your service. #lestweforget2020
Some good news. Well done Tla’amin Nation!
With a secure future, BC’s salmon farmers could more than double the sector’s economic activity, invest $1.4 billion in innovation and create nearly 10,000 new ...full-time jobs by 2050. Without stability, people like Ryan, companies like Aquatrans and communities like Port Hardy and Campbell River are at risk. Ryan says it best, "You can't move forward with a five year plan when that five year plan ends with no certainty..." This is Mental Illness Awareness Week. Please watch Todd Doherty, MP’s video imploring us all to commit to doing better, being better when it comes to understanding the very real impact of mental illness and injury.
How appropriate that on National Coffee Day I am watching our parliamentarians debate Bill C-4. Looks like I will need a few cups as the debate is expected to ...go into the wee hours of the morning. Bill C-4 is worth about $50 Billion and its debate will be limited as the NDP supported the Liberal's motion to to do so. Surely such an expenditure could have been afforded a few extra days for debate? On our town council, it is in the debate that better decisions are reached. One day is not appropriate. Time for another cup of coffee... #cdnpoli #nationalcoffeeday
BREAKING - Atlantic salmon farms in the Discovery Islands off BC pose no more than a minimal risk to the health of wild stocks migrating through the area, anoth...er scientific study has found. This is the ninth report on the risk of pathogen transfer to Sockeye salmon from salmon farms in the Discovery Islands, which was released today amidst an activist campaign to oust fish farms from BC’s oceans. Eight previous studies also concluded that aquaculture farms pose no more than minimal risk of serious harm to the health of migrating Sockeye salmon, said the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.-- Story will be updated on seawestnews.com See more
We've all made a good game of complaining about how awful 2020 has been. Consider this possibility (and it's still just a possibility): 2020 isn't going to be the year we all look back on with grim nostalgia as the Worst Year Ever. This might be the year when the bad really got started; when history reasserted itself. I’m not in a state of total despair about this possibility, but nor am I now ruling it out. Politics leadership matters again. And to meet this moment, we've allowed ourselves to be governed by sweet summer children, with a charmed prime minister who has decorated himself in rhetorical frivolities for the funeral of the beautiful old world.
The Trudeau government lost track of 20,000 infrastructure projects. Now they want to run your drug plan, daycare & retirement home. What could possibly go wrong?
In case you missed it this morning...
Starting soon...
I agree Richard Bragdon.
