Responsibilities: Transport resident to onsite programming, dining room and internal appointments Performs tasks such as: cleaning spills; making beds and changing linens; maintain clean, tidy, safe environment in the Home including the resident's room; labelling of personal grooming items; putting away personal laundry; cleaning high touch surfaces; wiping up spills and regularly organizing resident closets and drawers. Assists with nutrition and feeding, including but not l...imited to : distributing cloth protectors for meal times; setting up the dining room for meal times and clearing dishes after meals; assisting with feeding the residents through encouragement and coaching. Assist resident with hand washing before and after meals. Spends time with residents engaging in activities such as reading, card games and puzzles. Provides 1:1 resident support. Answer call bells and communicate residents' concerns to staff. Collaborates with residents, families and team members to maintain a positive, supportive and safe environment for all. Participates in Quality Improvement activities and advocates for the resident/family individual needs and preferences. Skills/Abilities: Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned. Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents and families. Demonstrates empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residents. Takes initiative and looks for opportunities to make the lives of our residents better. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. No hands-on personal care is permitted. Positive attitude and a willingness to assist seniors with excellent customer service. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Must not have had physical contact with a person(s) that have had COVID 19 and/or symptoms of the Virus 14 days prior to coming to Shepherd Village Must be willing to work for only one employer. Must be able to lift, bend, push and pull. Preference will be given to those who have experience working in Healthcare i.e. HCA, PSW, other (is preferred)

Your Best Life Now! I asked one of my friends who has crossed 60 & is heading to 70 what sort of change he is feeling in him? He sent me the following very interesting lines ....... 1) After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself. 2) I just realised that I am not Atlas. The world does not rest on my shoulders. 3) I now stopped bargaining with vegetables & fruits vendors. A few Rands more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughters school fees. 4) I pay the petrol attendant a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to his face. He is toiling much harder for a living than me 5) I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walk down the memory lane & relive the past. 6) I have learnt not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection. 7) I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. 8) I have learnt not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances. 9) I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do. 10) I remain cool when someone plays dirty politics to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race. 11) I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. Its my emotions that make me human. 12) I have learned that its better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof whereas with relationships I will never be alone. 13) I have learnt to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last. 14) I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself.

From week to week things can seem so uncertain, that's when we try to plan things detail for detail on our own. When we place Jesus foremost in the main equation, things become less frightening, less uncertain because we know He is our anchor. Trust Him! What do you have to lose?
