So sorry to announce that Sherbrooke Village Old Fashioned Christmas activities have been cancelled for 2020! This decision was not made lightly. The Old Fashioned Christmas Association volunteer committee had many factors to consider. Ultimately it is the safety of visitors that is paramount. 1st there is the reality that Covid-19 is once again on the rise and there is a lack of control on how many visitors will arrive or where they are from. Secondly Sherbrooke Village has ...had an opportunity to have extensive repairs done to many of the buildings and construction is ongoing until March 31, 2021, creating further safety risks. We do understand people’s disappointment. We too are disappointed. It truly is a magical time. The current plan is for an extra special 2021 Old Fashioned Christmas celebrating our 25th year of the event. We hope to see you all there! In the meantime we’re extending special thanks to the 100 volunteers who put in over 3600 hours per year to create and offer this event. See more

There was a lovely sunset on my evening stroll through the Village. The museum may be closed for the season but there is still much to enjoy.

Did you know? Our Renova Cottage was the home of Dr. Lambert Densmore a veteran of World War l. Visitors to the beautiful house get a feel for the life and times of a country doctor in rural Nova Scotia. - While visiting Sherbrooke with a friend who was attending to business, local residents asked if he was willing to establish a medical practice in the village. The young doctor agreed, opening an office in Renova Cottage, which also served as his home. On December 12, 1...905, he married Sherbrooke native and resident Mary Jean Murdoch, age 21, daughter of William J. and Catherine A. Murdoch. Their oldest child, Katherine 'Kate', was born in Sherbrooke, followed several years later by a second daughter, Grace. - For more information on Dr. Densmore’s service for home and country, and that of other local veterans, visit Bruce MacDonald’s blog - First World War Veterans of Guysborough County guysboroughgreatwarveterans.blogspot.com/search
