THE DAY August 2/2020 . Cosmos Cc vs Sher E Maples cc . Premier Division game at La Barriere. It was an important game for both the teams with Shers six victories out of six under their belt. On the other hand Cosmos CC trying hard to stop slipping down the table with two losses already.... Shers e maples won the toss and wisely put Cosmos to bat . It was good opening spell by Kamal Mangli and Amarvir ( beating the best batsman quite a few times). Got first wicket in the 4th over of the innings. The second wicket partnership got some runs before Mandeep getting best of the Cosmos batsman Raza Ali , a great diving forward catch by Maunak Patel. Mandeep Saini ,the swing master got one again in the same over. It looked as if shers would not have to chase more than 100 runs when they got the oppositions 5 wickets for just 66 runs. Satvir Singh bowled a good spell taking three wickets. The sixth wicket partnership between the captain Sunny and Garry Romana brought back the team back in the game but during that partnership it was a huge tragedy/loss for shers e maples as one of their allrounder got his finger dislocated and had to be taken to the hospital. It was a great effort by Gurpreet Gill to take a very difficult catch . We wish his early recovery . Shers fielding with 10 fielders still restricted the opposition to 166 runs in 30 overs. Amarinder S Poonia getting two wuick wickets in 7 balls he bowled. The half work was done by restricting one of the best teams below 6 runs per over. It was not a good start by shers in the batting loosing both the openers in quick succession and their captain as well before Manseerat and Mandeep sticking on the wicket and scoring six an over. Manseerat Gill couldnt capitalize again after having a good start of 23 runs giving away his wicket to extra cover. Mandeep was playing upto the merit of the ball and played shots almost to all parts of the park. Boy, it was difficult stopping him. Amarvir and Mandeep had a great partnership that brought the RR below 4 runs before Amarvir giving away his wicket. Vikas did play well with mandeep but throwed his wicket away by giving a simple catch to cover fielder. Mandeep indeed was running out of the batsmen and was under pressure as the last man was injured. He was joined by Amarinder Singh with 24 runs required to win. Both were playing very sensible, rotating the strike and hitting an odd boundry where needed. Opponents had lost all the hopes as both batsman were batting well but loss in concentration by Mandeep Saini shattered all the hopes of Sher E Maples. He got out trying to clear the boundry. It was all over for Sher E Maples as they lost the game which could have been an easy victory over the defending champions. Many things to learn from this game as Sher E Maples face strong Cresent CC next weekend.
