Looking forward to the first MusicNl showcase tonight! Get the popcorn ready, s'pose.
Yay! The MusicNl Conference is off to a lovely start and I'm tickled to be a part of it - if you're interested in catching some music from this year's nominees this evening, swing on over to the event here: xo https://fb.me/e/3ZPU6k1ud
Hey, everybody - I hope you're keeping well and kind out there. I'm just about ready to get tangled up in some Christmas lights and listening to music is helping the process, must say. If you happen to be looking for an appropriate soundtrack to balancing on a chair while stretching out to put a star on your tree, maybe the fun little set I recorded with Paul Lockyer and Scott Sheppard for the NL Folk festival might do the trick. It's now available over at youtube.com/c/shermandowney to watch again or catch for the first time. Thanks to the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Arts Society for having us for this year's online festival! Thanks as well to Gingerbeard House for capturing the Audio and Video and to Roger Lockyer @FoleymoreEntertainment for doing some additional editing bits!
Congrats to all the MusicNL nominees! It's lovely to see Roger at Foleymore Entertainment get a nod, and hey, 'New Beautiful' made the list a few times too. *hearts*
I'm looking forward to seeing the upper halves of my friends' faces tomorrow at the MusicNL Merch Market! My old friend Joel E. Hunt has been busy getting Tees n' Totes ready for a pick up in the morning along the way. Hot off the press! Got some stickers too, sure. I'll post pics from the Market when the wrinkles are smoothed out. If you're in St. John's and down around the CLB Armoury from 10 to 6, pop in and safely say hello to some of Newfoundland and Labrador's MusicNL ...artists, sure. It'd be great to catch up! @MusicNL https://musicnl.ca/news-item/musicnl-merch-market/
Getting set up for today’s Songwriters’ circle with Trails, Tales & Tunes! The circle starts at 4pm NL time and we’ve got Chris LeDrew, Rosemary Lawton, Jodee Richardson and m’self. Tune in Live over at the Trails, Tales and Tunes Facebook page, sure.
Yee Haw! The albums have finally arrived and are sitting on shelves at Fred Records for curbside pickup. Save me one, will ya? I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival over in Corner Brook. Pre-orders will be going out very soon! Put your hands together for Fred's Records and support your local shops, folks, and please stand up and applaud MusicNL and The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent On Recordings (FACTOR) for their continued support. Please send your good vibes out to K...im and Kevin at SpinCount and give some love to Roger at Foleymore Entertainment for lugging those boxes around, will ya? Like and Share, folks! *dances 'round the kitchen*

Well, folks - 'New Beautiful' is out there in the world as of yesterday. Seems like only 7 years since my last release. Time certainly flicks by. The album is currently available on your favourite streaming platforms and waiting to snuggle into your playlists. I had the pleasure of working with Daniel Ledwell on this project; Producer extraordinaire, who also slayed it on the bass, electric guitar and horns. Kinley Dowling waltzed into the studio and just nailed all the stri...Continue reading

New Beautiful is available now on all streaming platforms, as well as through www.shermandowney.ca. CD and vinyl versions are available for pre-order. Make sure to follow along on socials for all the updates. Can't wait for you all to hear it.
My Grandfather AuCoin was the first person I ever heard yodeling Hank Williams songs and I remember thinking how silly it was. Now, then.
Played this one at ‘Feast of Cohen’ in St. John’s a few years back. I remember convincing Sandy Morris and the rest of the band to sneak the ‘Land and Sea’ theme in as a solo section before the last verse. Weird but it worked.
One of my ol’ favorites - a John Prine classic
Give your grandparents a call, sure.
