Last year, $1.2 million was raised during the spring campaign which ...helped support important Easter Seals programs throughout Canada. 2014 Easter Seals Ambassador for Southern Alberta is Megan Fachini. Megan, who has Cerebral Palsy, had first experience with Easter Seals Alberta was when she was five years old. At that time, Easter Seals provided her with a wheelchair lift for the family van. Megan became re-involved with Easter Seals in 2011 when she first attended Easter Seals Camp Horizon. She has gone to camp every year since, and will continue to do so as long as they will have her! Megan’s hope is that someday soon we will all learn to focus on our similarities rather than our differences. 2014 Easter Seals Ambassador for Northern Alberta is Portia Dugan. Portia, who is seven-years-old, also has Cerebral Palsy, and sometimes experiences epileptic seizures. Easter Seals Alberta purchased a lift for her wheelchair so that the family could get the wheelchair from the garage to the house. Portia’s mother, Isabel, states that: Those who underestimate a person by what they only see, lose out on discovering the potential of greatness. Easter Seals provides support to families living with disabilities and with the support of Safeway; we are able to provide life changing recreational experiences at Easter Seals Camp Horizon and equipment programs to the families in our communities across Alberta, said Susan Boivin, CEO, Easter Seals Alberta. Helping our neighbours living with a diverse range of abilities has long been a Safeway priority, said Chuck Mulvenna, President of Safeway Operations, Sobeys Inc.
