Muscles of the neck we treat a lot in acupuncture. Quite interesting to look at isnt it!?
THE VAGUS NERVE A seemingly never-ending branching nerve that connects most of our major organs to our brain . It’s the longest cranial nerve in our body, ...one for the right side and one for the left. And is largely responsible for the #mindbody connection for its role as a mediator between thinking and feeling, you know our gut feeling. The vagus nerve is the queen of the parasympathetic nervous system. The rest and digest or the #chillout nerve. So the more we do things to activate the #vagus nerve (like deep #breathing), the most we combat the effects of its opposer, the sympathetic nervous system - the fight or flight, rushing around, have to do something, #stress releasing one. A few other functions of the vagus nerve, just to name a few: slows your heart rate and respiration. lowers blood pressure. helps with calmness and relaxation. controls involuntary muscles in the digestive system, therefore, aiding digestion. taste sensation. movement function for the muscles in the neck responsible for swallowing and speech. gut-brain communication. reduces inflammation. Astrology is one of the most important yet overlooked and under-utilized components in diagnosis and treatment. Taking astrology into account can greatly help point selection, enhance treatment outcome, treatment course, and prognosis. When were you born? What year? What season? What time?
Happy Canada Day!
We are excited to announce acupuncture is included in stage 2 of the Alberta Relaunch Strategy. We are allowed to reopen this friday (June 12). However, we are still awaiting arrival of our PPE (personal protection equipment) and have decided to make our reopen date June 23rd. Your health and safety is our top priority and therefore we are taking limited staggered appointments to ensure zero contact between patients. Cleaning and sterilization practices recommended by Alberta health will also be strictly followed. We look forward to seeing you.
To our valued patients, We are still waiting for direction from the provincial government on when we can reopen. We are anticipating being included in the stage two relaunch. As such, we have opened up our online booking system and are now taking appointments starting June23. We will keep you updated if circumstances change. As always, our client’s care and safety is our top priority and exceptional cleaning and sanitation practices will be in place. ... We look forward to, once again, helping you with your healthcare needs.
According to my son, even Optimus Prime practices his daily yoga for his physical and mental well being. I believe he is doing scorpian pose. Impressive Optimus, impressive.
Hope everyone is doing well during this time. I decided to engage in some social media distancing for a brief time. It was a nice break. The best thing we can do for ourselves right now is to do anything that encourages our bodies to go into a physiological parasympathetic state (our so called rest and digeststate). In this state, fight or flight immune suppressing stress hormones are reduced and our immune system and healing mechanisms can act at an optimal level. Ho...w can we do this? Here are some simple and inexpensive ideas. Get your rest.. when in doubt..rest is best Limit your exposure to technology Limit watching the news Do yoga, tai chi, reiki, qi gong Meditate Go for walks while deep breathing Eat your fruits and vegetables Listen to music you enjoy Take this time as an opportunity to get in touch with yourself and love ones again. Take care everyone! I will be in touch.
To my valued patients, As per the new regulations mandated by the provincial government, The Art of Harmony Acupuncture will be temporarily closing its doors. When we reopen, we look forward to continuing to provide you with quality health care.... We will keep our website, facebook, and instagram pages updated with ongoing developments. Take care and stay healthy.
For all us cleaning out there

The eyes in Chinese medicine are the gateway to the inner realm of ones emotional universe. They provide the practitioner deep insight into the state of the organs, especially the liver, heart, and kidneys which are highly involved in our mental health.
We are walking manifestations of nature and like nature, keep moving, flowing, growing, and changing
