As of Monday, Jan. 11, there were 179 active COVID-19 cases in Strathcona County 131 in Sherwood Park and 48 in the rural county.

Strathcona County RCMP responded to a home invasion at a residence near Range Road 224 and Township Road 523 on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 6:39 a.m. in rural Strathcona County. Investigators said two females and a male asleep inside the home when two male suspects wearing masks entered the home.

Throughout the month of December, @StrathcoCounty enforcement didn't issue any anti-masking or social gathering tickets, but that changed over the weekend.

Local COVID-19 update: As of Thursday, Jan. 21, there were 127 active cases of the virus in Strathcona County 99 cases in Sherwood Park and 28 in the rural county. One new death was reported in the Park on Thursday, bringing the county's overall death toll to 21.

Adding broadband internet to the 2021 budget bumped the proposed tax increase to 2.10 per cent. However, in a 7-2 vote, council supported Mayor Rod Frank's motion to get the budget to zero per cent. COVID-19 update for Strathcona County: AHS reported 71 total active cases as of Wednesday, Oct. 28 (and numbers didn't change on Oct. 29). That's 51 cases in Sherwood Park and 18 in the rural county.
