Here is a follow up to a previous post regarding anti-freeze for your boats. More important NON-TOXIC antifreeze. The following are pictures from our recycling bin (thanks for recycling) of empty antifreeze containers. Let’s clarify between the anti-freeze products, 1st: is the product you would put in your radiator of your car (or a closed cooling system on your engine) these are typically bright yellow, bright green or dark red. These are TOXIC and are NEVER To be used in ...your domestic water system on your boat, cottage or rv. Brand name like Prestone, Peak, Zerex, Evans, it is also refered to coolant and needs to be disposed of properly, it can not be dumped on the ground it is VERY harmful to the environment. 2nd: is the NON-TOXIC kind, which is used in domestic water systems, rv’s, pools etc. this product won’t kill you if you ingest it. It will make you throw up but is NON-TOXIC. This is usually bright pink (for the -50) or green (for the -100). Within the NON-TOXIC kind there are different levels of protection for your boat. See pictures with comments. We recommend WINTER SAFE made by Starbrite for the Marine environment. Available in the BoatingStore in 1 gallon container.
