Good News! We all need to get out in the forest and breathe the compounds from trees! This is just one paragraph from a very interesting article from Berkeley. Besides helping us breathe, being around trees may improve our health in other ways, too. Studies have shown that spending short amounts of time in forests seems to benefit our immune systems. Specifically, one study found that elderly patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease experienced decrea...ses in perforin and granzyme B expressions, as well as decreased pro-inflammatory cytokinesall related to better immune functionafter they visited forests rather than urban areas. We appreciate that this is a stressful time for all. Please know that Shane and I take your health and safety concerns very seriously and are committed to ensuring your outdoor experience is safe and comfortable. We will continue to use bleach cleaning products and Lysol spray when cleaning the cabins. As well, Via Rail has enhanced and increased how often they clean the train. They will be distributing additional antiviral products, such as hand sanitizer and wipes on board. Your decision to get away from the crowds, and relax in a beautiful, uncrowded setting is probably one of the healthiest and safest vacation choices you can make this year. So, I'm going to do a bit of paraphrasing here from some of my most recent readings. Much of the happiness data out there involves relationships, activities, and economic behaviours, and much of it is familiar: people are happiest when they have friends and community, have basic needs met, and keep their minds stimulated and engaged. But, Scientists wondered are there other factors that could make meaningful differences in the march of our days? So, they launched a huge study and the results show that "On average, study participants are significantly and substantially happier outdoors in all green or natural habitat types than they are in urban environments." So, that being said. . .You know what you need to do! Get on the phone and book your holiday with Shooting Star Camp!

OOps, I forgot to mention that Shane was the guide and captain for the day--(but, really, only choice I had), so I guess he DID have something to do with my awesome catch.

Great day at work! Testing motors and fishing--rough, especially since I outfished (shh) Shane with my fav lure of at least 20 years. (not gonna tell you what it is!)

Is it true that Emails don't take vacations? So much for getting away from it all. A study shows half of Canadians say they check their office emails while on vacation. Of those, 24 percent say they do so at least once, if not several times, each day! Don't waste your holiday worrying about work or those messages. At Shooting Star Camp there is no cell coverage which equals less stress, less worry, and more relaxation on your special time away from the rat race! Disconnect and De-Stress!
