This year, oceans and freshwaters across Canada received great news. The federal government announced a ban on six types of single-use plastics, coming into effect in 2021. We're thrilled to announce that a portion of the data used to inform this decision was collected by #TeamShoreline volunteers. https://www.aquablog.ca//citizen-science-informs-governme/

Make sure you get out onto your local shoreline one more time before the winter arrives. The snow and salt that comes with winter can turn large pieces of plastic into smaller, more easily ingested plastics, or #microplastics, through the colder months. These tiny plastics enter the ocean with runoff in the spring. Register to lead your own cleanup at ShorelineCleanup.ca. #TeamShoreline
