An inspiration to us all.

Anything that makes life easier and cleaner makes us very happy right now - such as these great mask lanyards made by someone in our neighbourhood. The length is perfect and they are easy to switch between the different types of masks that we wear in a day at the clinic. Marketplace: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1004800566632148/

Speech-Language & Audiology Canada has created a resource about the impact of face masks and shields on communication, particularly for those with communication impairments. Read the information sheets here: https://www.oac-sac.ca//General_Public_Masks_Info_Sheet_EN

Were often asked by parents if we know where to find childrens masks. Waverley Road Pharmacy (Waverley and Montebello) currently have both reusable and disposable masks in stock.

I was very excited to pick up our teams order of clear masks today. Formal Tailoring in Hammonds Plains has really made a wonderful contribution to our community with their creative problem solving and sewing skills! BTW they also make masks for children (preschoolers and school age) in a variety of styles. A number of the parents that we work with have asked us if we know where to find some locally, so I thought it worthwhile to share. https://m.facebook.com/Formal-Tailoring-646158012167145/

Shoreline plans to resume some in-person services on June 5th. We are currently completing our formal plan. Our College - the Nova Scotia College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists - is awaiting approval from the DHW of their guidance document to registrants. Once this has been received, Shoreline will finalize its plans. We will be posting our detailed plan shortly.... We are still offering services through telepractice now and after June 5th.

An update from my home to yours and an offer to help. Like most of you, I am at home. I am worried. Worried for my family and worried about our seniors. I am ...supporting my partner who tested negative for COVID-19 but is on quarantine measures in our home due to exposure while working in Long Term Care. I also have two daughters at home who are in grade 11 and 12. The grade 12 students have had lots of losses to contend with. I am glad to be home to support them through this unsettling time. I have worked over 30 years as a Health Care Social Worker primarily with seniors and their families. Over the past 3 years with Greywave Senior Care Consulting, I have been helping older adults and their families privately to navigate care options. Essentially helping them figure out what to do for themselves or loved one. One of the earliest things I learned from the seniors I worked with, was to try and live without regret. I reflect on that during this pandemic. I know there will be a time when I will be able to look back and reflect on this pandemic. I want to be able to look back and to believe I have done everything possible to help others during this time. Particularly, to have helped seniors and their families. In that light, if you are a senior or have a senior family member in the Halifax area who needs information about or help navigating services, please contact me. Although I am open for business, I know there are people out there who cant pay for my services or are nervous about their finances. I want to offer support regardless if payment can be offered. So please reach out if I can help to reduce the stress during this time by helping you navigate the services and programs available. Take good care. Stuttering is experienced differently by each individual, but may include many of these features. Secondary behaviours and psychological reactions develop over time in RESPONSE to the core behaviours. Its important to realize that the psychological impact of stuttering can be profound, but stuttering itself is NOT a psychiatric condition.

Our waiting room looks a little different these days. Weve replaced our fabric chairs with plastic ones for better disinfecting and the seats are spaced out for distancing (with the exception of the pair for couples or children accompanied by parents). The main doors are being left open so that visitors dont need to touch the door handle. The toys in the waiting room have been removed. Visits are being scheduled further apart. We have our disinfecting supplies and have elev...ated our routine practices. Other professionals are working from home or have been able to switch to telepractice. Weve introduced telepractice for clients when its appropriate. A number of our clients are suspending their services to practice physical distancing or choosing to switch to telepractice. These measures are helping us to continue to support the needs of our clients. See more
