Any unconvinced move, mistake or failure takes you a step closer to success, as long as you are trying your best. #shorinjikempo #montreal #montrealmartialarts #montrealselfdefense # #
Dear North York Branch members and friends in WSKO, The JCCC (Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre), the home of Norrth York branch, is facing a difficulty because of the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are not financially affected by the outbreak, please consider supporting them. The JCCC has allowed us to use their space as our main dojo for 12 years. In addition, they have supported our North American Seminars multiple times. There is no doubt that they have contributed the develop...ment of Shorinji Kempo in North America. Please follow the instructions below to make donations. Thank you.

In pair practice, the offense should provide attacks that are challenging for his partner. #shorinjikempo #shorinjikempomontreal #montrealmartialarts #montrealselfdefense # #
Class in Montreal is doing well.
Ann Arbor Kenshi celebrated the 41st Annual Cornell Shorinji Kempo Camp recently near Ithaca, NY along with Kenshi from New York, Boston, Florida, Seattle, Toro...nto, Montreal, and Japan. We enjoyed excellent practices led by our old friend and teacher, Sakuyama Sensei from Takahagi, Japan. We also enjoyed building friendships from early morning runs to late night conversations in gorgeous surroundings. We are looking forward to the 42nd annual camp next year! See more
Another factor to make your thrusts more effective: Make sure your front knee is bent enough. If you still see your own toe, it's not enough.
Why do we work so hard to practice offensive techniques? One main reason is to polish our defensive techniques. #shorinjikempo # #montreal # #montrealmartialarts #montrealselfdefense #

We haven't posted in a while, but we've been rallying to support our members Louie Dickens and his partner Lindsay Favell, who are facing a very difficult time. Hashimoto Sensei has set up this site for those who wish to contribute. https://goget.fund/2F1sOWy

Although it's now the mainstream to take Kirigote in "s-shape", we take it in "c-shape". It makes more sense with this that we put the supporting hand underneath, not on the top (Plus, the connection to Kirikaeshigote or Kirikaeshinage gets smoother).
Another way of practicing mae-ukemi.
On the way to the North American Seminar from the hotel, in Banff. Nice views.

This pair, a father and his son, was the most energetic in tonight's class. Good job!
Robert received his cetiricate for the 2nd degree, that he has passed last August.

How to play with a finished bottle <2> : Practice Mae-erijime ()
Kirikaeshigote () The main points of this technique are: - How to attack shoshikyu (= the pressure point located at around the root of the pinkie), and - The direction to take the offence's entire body.... This student is doing very good although this was his only second day to practice. (He could make the technique even more effective by raising his own elbow up higher) The common mistake on this technique is that the defence may take the opponent's body to the wrong direction, where he can escape or even deliver a kick.
Results directly reflect the mental conditions in this art. This is a type of meditation.
Kids are back from vacation
Gyakutembin. The second one is taken in a lower position but still works. Height doesn't matter.
Practicing Okuri-Tembindori (as Shikake - Preemption). The main point is to get close enough to the opponent and get him off-balanced by using your entire body.
