A judge has dismissed the sheep-napping case involving Hastings farmer Linda "Montana" Jones: http://www.chextv.com/2016/11/30/112262/ #Shropshire #sheep #Hastings
It is hollow because we were all actually hoping to take a run at the Health of Animals Act, which allows just on mere suspicion to basically take total control of a farm without any review, without any time limits, without any consideration of how it is destroying the farmer.
Wholearth Farmstudio will be broadcasting live tomorrow shortly after 9am from the Newmarket Courthouse to announce the judges ruling on an 11(b) delay argument in the Jones & Schmidt vs CFIA case. Wish us luck, and follow to get notified when we go live.
Even if you can't be there in person Monday, please show your support by attending virtually and click "Going" in solidarity. Ask your friends to invite and share this event with everyone who would do the same. This is a pivotal dayTHANK-YOU!
Could this really be the end of a 7-year battle with the CFIA? We're gathering at the Newmarket Courthouse on Monday to hear the Judges' ruling on an 11B delay argument filed by Montana Jones & Michael Schmidt vs the CFIA, read sharply at 9am. Let's gather in the courtroom at 8:30am to show our support for these small farmers who have been disrupted for 7 years, and dragged through the justice system for over 4 years. IF the judge rules in favour of the defence, it could bring some long overdue closure to this painful chapter. If the crown wins, the case will go to trial in April. If you can't be there in person, show your support by virtually attending, invite your friends and share this event far and wide so that we can make our presence felt on this day. See you there.
If an imported United States sheep ever tested positive for scrapie in Canada, the impact on livestock cross border trade agreements would equate to an agricultural earthquake for the national sheep industry. The CFIA's job is to make sure those aftershocks never happen. The public looks to media to inform them of of facts on news and current events, but when reporters repeatedly use incorrect "information" from previous incorrect articles, they are no longer journalists but merely players in the broken telephone game, and spreaders of lies and gossip.
