Meet the Aspins. The native dogs of the Philippines During my most recent trip there in 2019 , I spent every morning for nearly 5 weeks connecting with this amazing pack of dogs. As in most countries, street dogs face a number of challenges. This dogumentary is my tribute to them.... I'm proud to announce that I'm officially the 1st Canadian dog trainer to be certified by Ivan Balabanov in his unique training system: Training Without Conflict A play based system that harnesses a dog's natural instincts, takes dog/ human interactions to next level and offers deep insight into the science of how dogs learn best. It has profoundly influenced how I train and interact with dogs. I'm extremely thankful to Ivan and pleased to now be even more effective in helping dogs and their human families.

Met these funny dogs during a shore lunch break while canoeing on the St. Lawrence river. Acting like they've never seen a human eat a mackerel/ summer sausage open face sandwich with spicy mustard and parmesan slices.

Saddened by the news I received from my colleague in Cebu, Philippines that my boy King and 2 other dogs ( I'm not sure which ones yet) in my pack there were found dead. I collared and named all of these dogs to keep them safe but street dogs are a vulnerable population. King was the father and protector of this wonderful pack. He trusted me and we became very good friends. RIP buddies

I love the dog life. A backwoods canoe trip getaway with Pacho as company is a very happy place. The practical application of the obedience skills you teach your dogs in training, and the trusting/cooperative relationship you build with your dog is what will allow you to move through the world with them easily and confidently.

Thinking about my boy Jed who passed 3 years ago on this day. Such a great dog he was and I thanked him for so many things before he took in last breath. Show your dogs you love them everday, don't take your time together for granted.

Learning is a life long pursuit. I'm always striving to deepen my understanding of learning theory principles and their applications to refine my skill as a dog trainer. Training with legend Ivan Balabanov in his 1st ever live Training Without Conflict certification course has been a truly once in a lifetime opprtunity. He took us deep into ' unknown ' waters and no 'quadrant' was left unturned. Fantastic and challenging course, phenomenal instructor and great guy.

Very cool to be surrounded by like minded dog trainers from California, Louisiana, Wyoming, Arizona, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Arkansas, Israel and Germany while here in Florida training with Ivan Balabanov.
