In past years SRGB would have been at the Arts, Crafts & Hobbies building at the CNE. In a quirky way, we are still at the CNE this year as part of the innovative ‘CNE Box’. https://thecneshop.com/products/cne-box . Featured in the ‘CNE Box’ is SRGB 5 (Cottage Country) which includes: Buttermilk Falls (pictured with this post) plus other waterfalls; the lift locks at both Kirkfield and Peterborough; a variety of backroads to explore in Huronia, Muskoka, Haliburton and Kawarthas. Check www.sideroadguidebooks.com for two free half-day trips, just north of Toronto. Drop us an email we have two more free half day trips you can try one from Stouffville and one from Barrie.
Have you ever wondered how a boat can go uphill? Have a look at the Kirkfield Lift Lock. It is located just to the north of County Rd 48 which goes between Hwy 12 and Coboconk. Going towards ‘Coby’ take a left turn at the stop sign in the centre of Kirkfield and drive about 2 km. It is in SideRoad GuideBook 5. Be aware that certain facilities may be closed due to Covid-19. Continuing south along the Grand River (GuideBook 6) as it heads towards Lake Erie, we arrive at Paris ... "the Cobblestone Town". Our photograph looks towards the confluence with the River Nith. Depending upon Covid-19 regulations, the riverside restaurant patios make for a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal. If you wish a half-day trip near to Toronto, our website features two free routes ... www.sideroadguidebooks.com
Continuing down the Grand River ... a major change comes near the towns of Elora and Fergus. The Grand River cuts through a gorge. There are good walks and photography as well as the chance to visit the nearby small towns. The Grand River is featured in SideRoad GuideBook 6. If you wish a half-day trip near to Toronto, we have two free routes on our website ... www.sideroadguidebooks.com
This week, let us take you down the Grand River ... which runs from Dundalk by Hwy 10 to Port Maitland on Lake Erie. It may be the Grand River ... but where it starts in the Dundalk Highlands ... it is but a stream. The trip following the Grand River is in SideRoad GuideBook 6.
