Jumping in the summer sun! Did you know: Orca have good eyesight both above and below the waters surface! They also use their jawbones to hear! The jawbone transmit sounds from the receptors, through the ear canal! ... The time has come to open our doors again and welcome our community back! We are excited to announce that we will be starting our whale and wildlife tours back up on July 1st. What could be a better way to celebrate than out on the beautiful Salish Sea.

Today was a great day on the water. We had Transient Orcas, Resident Orcas, and Humpbacks in the area. Nothing is better than spending a sunny Sunday in the Salish Sea.

Gilakasdaxw’la, nugwa’am Takudas. Gayutan lax Tsaxis, ha Kwagu’an. Warm greetings to you all. My name is Takudas, Rolling-Copper and I am Kwagu’ (Kwakiutl) from Fort Rupert. Today on National Indigenous People’s Day, we wish to acknowledge with respect our friends and relatives of the WSANEC First Nations on whose lands and waters we have the privilege to live, learn, and operate our adventure tourism business. Their culture of generosity and welcome has al...ways been encouraging and for that we are so grateful. As a Kwagu’ person, we are taught that the Orcas are our kin. Our history teaches us that during the early times of creation, some of our first ancestors were Orcas that transformed into human beings and thus we are descendants of the Sea Wolves. This connection defines our philosophy of respect and reverence for these remarkable marine mammals and is why I chose to start a business that fosters awareness and appreciation for the human-caused challenges to the ecologies that sustain us all. Our company logo was designed by artist and master carver Calvin Hunt to represent who I am through my ancestry. The Tlingit faces on the outside come from the matriarch of our Hunt family Anisalaga, Mary Ebbets from Tongass Alaska. These six faces are the generations before me and I am the whale in the middle as the 7th generation descended from Anisalaga. During these challenging times we are not out on the water as much as we would normally be but we are still taking the time to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with our extended family. Thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years and continue to support the protection of all marine life in the Salish Sea. He’am.
