LMIA Validity update The 9-month LMIA validity period announced as a COVID-19 special measure is ending September 30, 2020. Any LMIA's received after September 30, 2020 will receive a maximum 6 month validity period. Furthermore, the option to submit Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) by email will eventually be disabled for fee-paying streams of the Program, and that Service Canada strongly recommends the use of LMIA Online as the preferred method to submit LMIAs.
IRCC speeding up processing for spousal applications Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the number of decision makers on spousal applications in Canada by 66%, to process spousal applications more quickly and reduce couples’ wait times. IRCC is leveraging new technology in a pilot to digitize paper applications so they can be processed more efficiently by IRCC employees working remotely and at various worksites. In addition to implementing facilitative biometrics measures, IRCC will be piloting, in the upcoming weeks, technology to conduct interviews with applicants remotely, in adherence with public health protocols.
until further notice, permanent residence applicants are exempt from the requirement to provide new biometrics in support of their application for permanent residence, as long as they’ve given their biometrics in support of an application within the last 10 years. https://www.canada.ca//updat/2020-biometric-exemption.html
