Sikh Centennial Gala

We had an amazing night at the ROM for our annual Sikh Centennial Gala. Thank you to everyone that attended, and to everyone behind-the-scenes. The evening was a delight with speakers: The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Manny Kohli (President and CEO of Matt & Nat), Peter Dhillon (President and CEO of Richberry Group), and the always eloquent Rupi Kaur (author, poet, illustrator and performer). Love seeing returning faces! Repost @jusskaur_art An inspiring and fantastic time at the #sikhcentennialgala hosted by @sikhfoundationofcanada ! Special thanks to @rupmagon and Bal for the company and making the evening extra wonderful. Hearing all the success stories brought not only joy to the heart but a grateful feeling that we are citizens of such a great country Canada where all this is possible. I was particularly impressed by @mannykohli_ who happens to be some...one I have known since he was in his early twenties. The fact that his company line @matt_and_nat_ recycles over 6 million plastic bottles and is vegan brought hope into perspective, that if collectively we all take these eco-friendly kinds of initiatives, then perhaps we can save the environment. Of course, @rupikaur_ was as charming as always (I went to a performance in BC last summer) - you go girl!!! Thank you for using your revolutionary spirit to awaken the sleeping lionesses. The Right Honorable Adrienne Clarkson (26th Governor General of Canada) who just turned 80 inspired me the most. What a beautiful, kind, gentle yet powerful personality. She generously shared her story of arriving as a refugee from Japanese occupied Hong Kong in 1941, and how she became not only a prominent Canadian Journalist but a stateswoman. It was delight and an honour to meet her. There were several other equally amazing people too many to mention but together everyone made the evening a delight.
