God never said "Though shalt not hoard toilet paper during a pandemic" but there are some things we know are wrong. How do his ancient commandments relate to our modern lives - especially in this surreal new normal caused by Covid 19? Minister of Youth and Young Families Jen Prince invites us to explore our thoughts and behaviours, and ask ourselves if we are truly living the way God intended.

Take a couple of minutes and have a listen to a beautiful prayer song for God to touch our hearts so that we may become a blessing to others.

Stu's Ramblings October 1st, 2020 SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: ... (from the Revised Standard Version) James 5:7 "Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord." Galatians 6:9 "And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season, we shall reap, if we do not lose heart." Colossians 3:2 "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." MESSAGE: News reports confirm what researchers and epidemiologists have been predicting -data indicates that the next three months may be difficult for many North Americans and people throughout the world. Covid 19, that strong and very contagious virus, will continue to cause illness, hospitalizations and death. We must remember to wear our masks, to wash our hands frequently, to socially distance and to follow the directives of our local Public Health Unit. We know that isolation and loneliness can exhaust us physically, emotionally or spiritually, with anxiety, depression and addictions being the result. Today, there are many people who faithfully serve God who have become weary and discouraged. Think about God's words, as spoken by Isaiah, in Isaiah 40:31, "but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Do you find waiting difficult? Think of all the things in our lives, that require refuelling or recharging. We know that God's limitless power will renew and regenerate our spiritual batteries. God's grace is sufficient for every circumstance in life. Yes, you will be "lifted up on eagle's wings" and carried through life's stresses and strain. As the song says, "Lord, teach me to wait." JUST ASK! PRAYER: Loving Father, I know that my strength can only be found in you. Thank you for this strength which you have given to me. I pray that I may rise above all the difficulties of life and run with patient endurance, the race that is set before me, looking unto you. Thank you for empowering me through your Spirit to work for you in this world. May I continue to receive your gift of strength, so that I can keep on hoping, serving and praying. Amen. TO THINK ABOUT: We are in unknown territory, where things are changing rapidly. Can a person grow spiritually in a faith community that interacts through screens? Does virtual prayer count? Is small group still small group when it's on video? THE VIDEO: There were several good versions from which to choose; I hope that you enjoy "Teach Me to Wait" by Narrow Way. Stuart Cunningham
