On October 6th, 2020 a member of SESHL community died tragically. Jamie Bilbey was a player on the Red Bulls team since the beginning and we know he was very much loved by his family and friends. We extend sincere condolences to his parents Lauren and Rob, and his sister Jessie. We also acknowledge the loss felt by his extended family and friends, including his hockey team. On Friday, October 23rd at 8:00pm there will be a charity hockey game at Mitchell Arena in memory of ...Jamie. In accordance with public health advisories, attendance will be limited, masking is required and physical distancing is also encouraged. The family has selected Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter and St. Raphael Wellness Centre as beneficiaries for donations made in Jamie’s honour. If you are unable to attend the game, please go to the websites of the organizations to learn how you can arrange a donation. My dad inspired my love of all things sports and Silver Eye Sports may have never existed if it hadn’t been for his influence. He was a force to be reckoned with on the ball diamonds and on the ice surface in our region for many years. In the days when fathers weren’t allowed in the delivery room when their children were being born, Dad left my own birth to go and pitch relief at a fastball game (thanks Mom for forgiving him). For now, I cannot in good conscience promote registrations for leagues which will not be able to proceed as they would under normal circumstances. I have drafted COVID-19 Return to Play guidelines for safety to present to the RMs in the event slo-pitch is permitted again. The RMs and the @cit...yofsteinbach are doing all they can to make sure things are done right and done safely. This is new territory for all of us and all involved are doing the best we can. Slow Pitch update: Prior to today’s release of phase 2, we had been talking with local officials to discuss the plans for facility usage. We are looking to work with local recreation officials and establish league safety policies and procedures in regards to a safe return to hopefully getting the slow pitch season rolling.
