This ca. 1960s or '70s Ellis Anderson postcard of Zincton, near Sandon, is well known. But it's the message on the back that makes it interesting: it pins down ...the date of the fire that destroyed these mining buildings as August 1983. (Previously it was just said to have occurred late '70s or early '80s.) See more

This painting of Sandon during the Japanese-Canadian internment was created in 1944 by artist Fred Brigden. Last week, two childhood friends who were there that day spoke on the phone for the first time in over 76 years.

Your new 2020 Silvery Slocan Historical Society board: Greg Nesteroff, Margaret Scaia (represented by the phone in Greg's hand -- she attended by cell phone) Judith von Krogh, Henning von Krogh and Joyce Gill. They are bring a lot of energy, skills and passion to the society. Good Luck.

8 March 2020: In recognition of International Women's day, we present this photo of the crew of the Wynndel packing shed, probably in the early 1940s. It's a pr...etty clear illustration of the importance of women in Creston's agricultural and industrial activity. Thank you to all the women who do so much to support the community and all its endeavours.

Before, the upstairs room (the Pythias Room) beside the "Church room" had nasty holes in the floor, possibly from past plumbing. Now, with the CBT and Village of New Denver updates -- Very good!
