Dental cleanings will clean up the tartar and plaque on the teeth and along the gum line. This will resolve bad breath and prevent potential future extractions. This before and after is from a 4 year old Shepherd cross that had a teeth cleaning in August 2020. Her mom and dad were so happy to have fresh smelling kisses! Not ready to have a dental cleaning done? We have different products from food, water additives to toothpaste to help keep your pet's teeth clean! Contact us today at 519-426-0111 or [email protected].

Welcome Cruise! Cruise was recently adopted by one of our team members, Martha, and will be coming to the clinic with her while he works on his confidence! He is 2 years old and was found as a stray. He is suffering from mild arthritis due to an old pelvic injury that didn't heal properly. He is being transitioned to one of our mobility diets - Hills Prescription j/d. j/d has added glucosamine chondroitin and high levels of fatty acids to preserve healthy cartilage. Mobility diets are great for any pet that is at risk of developing mobility issues (such as Cruise's injury) or for senior pets feeling the effects of arthritis! Interested in learning more about our senior diets? Contact us today at 519-426-0111 or [email protected].

Together with the rest of the nation, we are remembering and honouring our veterans. The legacies of different generations of Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice as well as the men and women who are serving today must always be remembered. Their bravery, strength and skill helped safeguard and create the freedom that we have today. May we never take for granted all they have done for us and for our country. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #ThankYouVeterans

Here's our 4th RVT Tuesday! Meet Sheridan! She joined our team as a kennel assistant in 2017 before going away to school. We were lucky to welcome her back as a RVT in April 2020 after she graduated from Ridgetown College in 2019. Sheridan became a RVT because she loves helping animals and wants to make a difference in their lives. She has always been interested in science and being a RVT combines those two perfectly. She also loves that veterinary medicine is so diverse and... there is always something new to learn. Sheridan's favourite part of being a RVT is phlebotomy (taking blood) and helping sick animals feel better. Thank you Sheridan for all that you do!

It's RVT Tuesday! Meet Kelsey, she has been an RVT with us since March 2016. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College in 2015. Kelsey was drawn to the profession from a love for animals. She has always wanted to save them and she grew up with animals in her life.... Her favourite part of the profession is phlebotomy, which is the skill of pulling blood. She loves meeting new patients and seeing them grow a part of our SAH family as they mature from little kittens and puppies to adults entering their senior years. Thank you Kelsey for all that you do!

It can sometimes be hard to tell if your pet is suffering from osteoarthritis, especially when they still have that puppy or kitten energy! This is one of the reasons why we recommend annual physicals for your pets, especially seniors - it helps us spot any underlying issues. The great news is your pet can enjoy their time with you pain-free with the support of supplements, medication or mobility food. Do you have questions about your pet's mobility? Contact us today at 519-426-0111 or [email protected] to book a senior wellness exam!

Halloween is looking different for a lot of us this year but maybe you've decided with your social bubble or trusted neighbors to do a spin on Halloween to keep the magic alive. If your family is still participating in the festivities in your own way, follow this tips so that every member of the family can enjoy the spooky season! How is your family celebrating Halloween this year? One extra tip - keep your pets out of the candy bowl! Chocolate and other sweets are often toxic to pets. Worried your pet may have ingested something? Contact us right away at 519-426-0111 or, after hours, Brant Norfolk Veterinary Clinic at 519-720-0753.

It's (Registered) Tech Tuesday! Throughout RVT month, we'll be featuring our wonderful technicians weekly. Meet Laura - Laura has been a part of the SAH team since 2015. Originally, she was hired as a maternity leave cover but we were very lucky to add her on permanently. Laura graduated from the RVT program at Ridgetown/UoG College in 2008. She was drawn to being an RVT because she had an affinity for biology and chemistry, as well as animals of all kinds - it was a "purrfe...ct" fit! Laura's favourite part of being a technician is knowing that the skills she utilizes every day make an impact on patients and clients and getting puppy/kitten kisses. Thank you Laura for everything you do!

IT'S RVT MONTH!!! Please excuse our excitement but we can't help it when discussing our Registered Veterinary Technicians. Our RVT's are amazing! They perform so many duties every day and we wouldn't be able to properly take care of any fur kids without them. Our technician's are in charge of or involved in the many jobs listed in this paw print. We'll be posting short weekly bios showcasing our incredible RVTs and offering glimpses into their daily clinic life this month.... Show our RVT's some love in the comments and help us celebrate RVT month! #ProudlyRVT #NationalRVTMonth

Around 7 years of age, dogs and cats become senior pets and their physical and nutritional needs begin to change. Regular veterinary check ups and discussion with our team can help keep your pet healthy and comfortable in their golden years. What do we look for in the senior years? Signs of mobility issues, kidney disease, heart disease, obesity, age-related behavioural changes, and urinary tract disease. These conditions can be treated and managed with the help of our team.... How? By bringing your pet in for annual physicals and performing senior wellness bloodwork to help us to catch any issues as early as possible. Preventive care is key! How old is your pet in human years? Are you surprised by the number?

Summer may officially be done but that doesn't mean your pet's itch is too. One of the main reasons for visits this time of year is for itchy pets! Have you noticed your pet scratching? Licking? Red skin? A yeast-like smell? Are their ears bothering them? One or more of these signs may be due to an environmental or food allergy. Contact our team today at 519-426-0111 or [email protected] to see how we can help. Now is a paw-some time for a skin health check!

It's time to celebrate another one of our RVT's! Meet Lysa - Lysa joined our team in 2011 before leaving for British Columbia in 2015. We were ecstatic to welcome her back in 2018. Lysa graduated from the RVT program at Seneca College in 2005. She was drawn to the profession because it combined her science background, love of animals and technical acumen.... Lysa's favourite part of being an RVT is the role she plays in preserving the bond between client and pet and being an active member of a caring, compassionate health care team. Thank you Lysa for all you do!

It can be hard to say no to the puppy dog eyes when your pet is staring at you while you're having a snack. We sometimes sneak a little nibble to our furry friend, but are you aware of how it could be affecting their weight? Take a look at the pictures below to see how a small piece of food could really be effecting your pet. Did you find these facts surprising? It's okay to treat your pet sometimes, but please be aware of how much your pet is getting and make sure a human treat is not potentially harmful to your pet by visiting https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/.

We found an old photo of the clinic that we estimate is from the late '70's/early 80's. What a change! It was interesting to find this photo and see how the building and surrounding area has changed since then. Do you remember the changes through the years? Tell us how long you've been a part of our SAH family! Whether it be 20 years or 2 months, we are so proud to be entrusted with the care of your furry family members.
