Happy Valentine’s Day! Make our hearts happy by recycling and putting your materials in the right place! Remember that candy and chocolate wrappers don’t belong in your blue bin.
HDPE #2 plastics are acceptable in your recycling. Some examples of #2 plastics you can find around the home include laundry detergent bottles, shampoo bottles and clear 4L milk jugs!
Happy Pizza Day! Celebrate today by ordering in some pizza from your favourite local restaurant. When you’re done with the box, be sure to recycle it in the blue bin. If the bottom is too greasy to recycle, rip off the top and recycle it!
Give your recyclables some space! When you put your recyclables into the blue bin, toss them in loosely. No need to put your materials in a plastic bag! Doing this makes it hard to sort the recyclables at the recycling facility, increasing costs and time.
Hairspray, spray paint and air freshener cans are just some examples of different types of aerosol cans. These items aren’t accepted in the blue bin as they are considered Household Hazardous Waste (HHW.) Please bring them to a HHW drop-off location to safely dispose of them.
Around this time of year there’s a lot of cardboard coming into our homes. Here are three ways to reuse and recycle it. 1. Save your boxes for packing gifts. 2. Take your excess cardboard to a depot for recycling. 3. Cut up your larger boxes into smaller pieces to they’ll fit inside your blue bin. ... Do you reuse your cardboard in other ways? Let us know in the comments!
No matter who makes your coffee, take out coffee cups and lids are not recyclable in Winnipeg. Please put them in your trash.
When recycling your containers in the blue bin, make sure they’re empty before you toss them in! A quick rinse is always appreciated to get rid of any lingering smells and prevents the development of mold in your recyclables.
Did you know that our Recyclepedia can be translated into 13 different languages? It’s one of our favourite features about the app, which makes learning about recycling easy for everyone!
Happy Halloween! We hope that you are still able to enjoy this spooky holiday at home with your families, whether that’s watching a scary movie or doing a candy hunt around the yard. Remember that chip bags and candy wrappers don’t belong in your recycling.
