RAFFLE TIME!! I’ve received a number of compliments on the Town of Coaldale’s new website layout. Let’s put it to the test with a fun scavenger hunt! Send me the answer and the link from our website, coaldale.ca that shows the answer to myself by email or Facebook private message on or before Tuesday, December 1. Participants with the correct answer will be entered into a draw to win a $25 gift card to The Chrysalis Café. Winner of the draw will be announced and contacted on... Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Congratulations to Chrysalis Cafe for receiving the Platinum Award in the Cafes and Coffee shop category by Community Votes Lethbridge (and area). Here comes the question... Main Street has recently received a number of pedestrian and road safety improvements as well as aesthetic and functional enhancements. One of the primary considerations that went into the design of Main Street was accessibility and a commitment to create barrier-free access for all users of the space. QUESTION: After construction, how many parking stalls now meet the barrier-free design standards on 20th Ave?

I would like to congratulate Shift Real Estate Investments on the development of Civic Square. I cannot wait to see this building on Main Street.

Here is the link to the YouTube video of our meeting last night. We have decided to have the improvements at the McDonalds/Tim Hortons intersection brought into the 2022 budget discussions. With that though we are also looking into zebra crossing with pedestrian flashers at the intersection for now. Here is some more information on it 3 solutions are being considered... 1. Single lane roundabout 2. Double lane roundabout 3. Signalized intersection This is moved to the 2022 budget discussions but a lot more public engagement will have to happen to make this possible. We will have to have conversations with business owners also. So in the end it will be brought for discussions next year around the same time. https://youtu.be/aNnxs03YF7U

Question time again.... Here is a picture of the McDonalds/Tim Hortons intersection. At the next council meeting on November 23 we will be discussing what improvements are needed to be done. I am guessing a roundabout will be recommended. Now my question to you. Should we, A) Make these improvements in 2021, even if this means adding a temporary staff/contract service to help us run and complete is as soon as possible. ... B)Make these improvements in 2022, without the need to hire an additional staff or contract service to complete it. ** After some conversations I want to add that there has been public engagement on this in the past. There has been a lot of thought, engineering and planning on this project already. Our team has considered several options for this site. We did need to work closely with Alberta Transportation as the intersection for the highway is so close. We want to create a safe traffic flow as well as safe pedestrian crossing and flow through this busy intersection. I created this poll to help me gauge the urgency the residents may feel in getting this project completed. As well as through my term this has been a topic that has had lots of open dialogue with us. **full details will be given at the November 23 council meeting.
