How do I know a lawyer will take my case as personally as I do? When looking for a lawyer we often tell potential clients that they should be asking a few preliminary questions: 1) Will this be my lawyer throughout the case? Some lawyers will meet with a potential new client at the outset but then immediately refer them to another lawyer in the firm once they are retained. An accident or insurance dispute is a major event in someone’s life and you should know who you will be... dealing with from the start; 2) Does this lawyer have a history of taking cases to trial or do they simply settle or refer the matter to another lawyer when the going gets tough? Everyone prefers to settle but if the insurance company knows the opposing lawyer won’t go to trial then they will attempt to lowball you; and 3) Do you think you will get along with your lawyer? Is this someone you want to be dealing with? This individual will likely be in your life for a number of years so it is important for your lawyer to be approachable, patient and empathetic. Q: Do I need insurance on my snowmobile? A: In order to drive a snowmobile across a road, on roadways, and on trails the law requires you to have insurance. Under Ontario law, any person injured as a result of a motor vehicle (driver, passenger or pedestrian) is entitled to no-fault accident benefits. These benefits may include:... - Medical and rehabilitation expenses - Attendant care expenses - Income replacement benefits - Caregiver benefits - Non-earner benefits - Housekeeping expenses Learn more here: https://singerkatz.com/car-accident-lawyer-toronto/ #snowmobiling #peronalinjurylawyer

An insurance company may call to see if you were assessed medically or if you want to participate in a rehabilitation program. Make sure to answer the phone or answer your email! After several failed tries to reach you, your coverage can be denied or terminated. https://singerkatz.com/long-term-disability-lawyer-toronto/ #disabilityinsurance #personalinjurylawyer

Insurance companies have been known to conduct surveillance for lawsuits and cases where claim denials are challenged with the goal of delegitimizing claimants. Did they travel? Were they captured on social media doing activities they said they couldn’t do? Were they seen shoveling snow or gardening outside their home? What examples can be found of a person experiencing life in contradiction to their claim? https://bit.ly/3nh1pRj

Q: What is the role of an IME in long-term disability cases? A: IME stands for independent medical examination. The term can be misleading as the doctor is hired by an insurance company to evaluate your medical or psychiatric situation. This doctor does not provide treatment, just an opinion to the insurance company on symptoms, restrictions, limitations and treatment. These opinions are not always independent or correct. In many cases the doctor only does a paper review. Insurance companies will often rely on these opinions in deciding whether to approve or deny a claim for benefits. https://singerkatz.com/long-term-disability-lawyer-toronto/

It is not uncommon for an insurer to look into your actions to see if they are consistent with your long-term disability claim. They can take photos of you outside your home, look through your social media accounts and other means. So make sure you are honest and upfront so your case remains credible and viable. https://singerkatz.com/long-term-disability-lawyer-toronto/

Filing a life insurance claim after the death of a loved one is stressful enough without the added worry of the claim being denied. The denial of a Long Term Disability claim is often dependant on a case manager’s assessment of these three factors and whether a person has fulfilled them: - Eligibility - Level of function - Appropriate medical treatment... https://singerkatz.com/long-term-disability-lawyer-toronto/

Singer Katz LLP 05.11.2020

Q: I am a long-term disability claimant. If I refuse medical treatment due to cost, will my claim be denied? A: Most insurance contracts will require a claimant to mitigate their losses. This means that they need to try to get better. If the cost of treatment is too expensive, this can be an explanation for why it was not done. Sometimes there are less expensive or government funded options. Insurance may also cover these costs. https://singerkatz.com/long-term-disability-lawyer-toronto/

....Everyone was required to wear masks in the courtroom. Jurors wore them throughout the trial. Witnesses removed their masks when giving evidence. Lawyers removed their masks only when they spoke. The judge removed his mask once he was seated behind the bench. Most of the witnesses gave evidence in person. Several witnesses testified virtually. The health and safety of all persons involved in the justice system needs to remain paramount. Unfortunately, many courtroom...s are not equipped with the necessary requirements to run a socially distanced jury trial. What is a long-term disability? In group insurance policies, the more common definition is a disability where a person is unable to perform essential duties of their occupation for the first 24 months. After 24 months, the definition adjusts to whether the person is able to perform the essential duties of any gainful occupation for which they are qualified. https://singerkatz.com/long-term-disability-lawyer-toronto/... #disabilityinsurance #personalinjurylawyer

According to Transport and Infrastructure in Canada, 19% of cyclists killed were struck by a heavy truck. They also had these great safety tips for when cycling near trucks: - Prevent a roll-back collision by leaving extra room when stopped behind a truck... - Ride on the inside section of a bike lane when a truck is near you. - When sharing the road, ride far enough behind the truck for better visibility in the trucks side-view mirror. - Gear down at stops to reduce wobbling when starting up again - Trucks passing cyclists can create a gust of wind powerful enough to throw a cyclist off balance. When anticipating a truck coming up on your side, stop pedalling and concentrate on keeping your front wheel straight. https://singerkatz.com/bicycle-accident-lawyer-toronto/
