We are looking for new homes for our darling goats. Mirabel and Symphony are two sweet young Oberhasli does. They are registered, purebred, CAE free does from an impressive bloodline. Mirabel is a yearling and has already kidded once, Symphony is a large doe kid who is ready for breeding this year. Mirabel is the daughter of the best milker in the herd, and she has already shown a promising start to what will surely be an illustrious milking career. She is timid but gentle ...and large for her age. Symphony is a feisty and affectionate doe who is not afraid of anything. She loves people and is very friendly. She is large and very correct for her breed. Oberhasli goats have a rare beauty. They are graceful, deer-like goats, with rich brown bodies and stunning markings. They are one of the smallest of the medium sized goat breeds, but hold their own in milk production. Their milk is delicious and highly praised by customers. This is due to its excellent butter-fat ratio. Oberhaslis are a very quiet breed. They are wonderful, beautiful goats, good for both the novice and experienced herders. We have other goats as well; please ask about the whole herd if interested.

Singing Bird Farm is looking to do an accommodation for work trade with one, and possibly two, people. We have a comfy tent trailer with electricity, running water, a small kitchen. Comes with an outhouse but shower and laundry are inside the house. We also may have a room in the house available for a second person. Trade involves feeding/watering goats (timing is fairly flexible) and some harvesting/weeding. We will be away from mid July to mid August, so a very firm commitment is required. Spaces are available by the end of this weekend. There is opportunity to stay for the entire summer. Contact us at [email protected] or phone Doug and Leonie at (250) 537-5478.

Spotlight On: Sasha and Symphony: We are still looking for a home for one of our precious twin does! Sasha and Symphony are the twin daughters of Savannah and Finn. Their mother is the most glacially beautiful doe in our herd, tall, straight boned, and with fine, bold features. Her kids are always exceptionally friendly and outgoing and tend to bond well with humans. Sasha and Symphony are no exception. ... Symphony is the perfect name for this little doeling, because she is a true orchestra of personality. She is into everything, daring and constantly on the lookout for fun. She is the first to greet visitors, the first to clamber onto their laps, and she and cousin Nim have the habit of both lying down on one person's lap while Sasha winds around them, looking for pats. Symphony is a very passionate goat, and she gives love without hesitation. She receives it easily in return. She is a rich cinnamon colour, and the reddish tinge to her fur is unusual among this year's kids. Sasha is very similar to her sister. She's a little calmer and less physically intense. She loves cuddles and being petted, but she is slightly less likely to climb all over you. Instead, she really loves receiving affection on her own level. She and her cousin Nim are best friends and are rarely seen apart. Though a mellow kid, Sasha has bonded strongly to humans. She received bottle supplements during her first week of life, and this has helped her to connect with humans more than most goats. She takes after her mother in looks. She is very light coloured (all oberhasli kids darken as they reach maturity) and has extraordinarily pronounced markings. Thick black streaks swoop below her eyes, and a dark river pours down her spine to her tail. She is easily the most visually stunning of her kids, and her heart matches her looks effervescent. Both Sasha and Symphony are the perfect goats for a family. They are both cuddly and friendly, confident and spunky. They are both quite close to their cousin Nim, whom one or the other will be paired with. Sasha is slightly calmer, and Symphony a little more cuddly, but either of them will be warm and loving additions to any family.
