When buying a House.... Make sure that any work the previous owners did was done with a permit! If not, this can be an expensive proposition to correct at a later date.

Double and triple check - make sure your design is everything you want it to be BEFORE going for permit. Changes made after you've been awarded a permit can be expensive and eat up precious time in your construction process. Municipalities have a "minimum" charge for applications and a revision counts as a new application. Here's a tip: discuss the changes to the original permit with the inspectors and ask them to approve the changes on-site, often they will!

Did you know that if you move your bathroom or even move the fixtures around you actually need a permit? This one is easy to get and inexpensive. Be certain your handyman is doing things correctly - get a permit - you'll have peace of mind for the future.
