We are launching a new initiative called Community Kitchen Words of Warmth and we need your help! We are asking community volunteers to write inspirational and feel good messages to be sent out with our Community Kitchen meals and we are hoping you will help us out by putting pen to paper. Now more then ever our community needs to be lifted up and what better way to do it than through receiving words of affirmation. Messages should be sweet and simple and something that would brighten up someone's day. Feel free to write as many as you want. Our staff and volunteers are making some delicious meals for our Community Kitchen program while following Covid protocols. This week on the menu is chicken and rice soup and Thai chicken curry. These meals are a lifeline for so many in our community and our staff are planning on making approximately 2,000 meals a month for distribution throughout Haliburton County!

We had 62 people enjoy our take-out Lunch Is On Us yesterday! Jay, Judith and Lydia distributed 58 meals (chicken cacciatore), 54 soups and 28 fruit. We heard heartwarming stories about how some were picking up meals to take to vulnerable individuals and shut ins. Stay tuned to hear what next week's Lunch Is On Us will feature. At this time lunches are available from 11:30-2pm for takeout only on Wednesdays at the SIRCH Bistro & Marketplace.

Our Share the Warmth Coordinator Becca Anderson is busy dropping off donations for our Share the Warmth giveaway tomorrow and we have a team of hardworking volunteers sorting all the wonderful gear we received! Thank you to such a generous community for this outpouring of love. We hope you can come by tomorrow to the SIRCH Bistro/Marketplace between 11-4pm to pick up anything you might need. Or in Minden from 9-1pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church. Covid protocols will be in place. See you tomorrow!
