Sisu Gallery

The Sisu Gallery sign survived its first firing, so now its time to glaze it and get it into the gas kiln for final firing. I'd better hurry so there'll be time to set the tiles and hang the new sign by the gallery door before the Art Studio Tour on May 13-14th. Only 2 weeks!

55 years of sponsoring kids teams, donating gift certificates to local fund raisers, providing plants for all sorts of community events, and answering all our gardening and landscape questions - this anniversary is a community event! Come on out and join the celebration!

Just finished a few tile compositions in time to hang in the gallery for Easter. Dayton's friend Kyle made the oak frames for me, so I just had to stain and finish them and grout the tile work this week. Here's a few pictures of the new work. Happy Easter!

Getting excited about the Art Studio Tour on Mother's Day weekend! It will be the first public event at Sisu Gallery, and I hope you can come. Today we set up a display at the Maple Ridge Library, showing some of the artisans' work that you will be able to see during the tour. Check it out at the library if you have time.

Here's the new sign for Sisu Gallery - just cut the clay 'tiles' apart, so the whole sign can dry, (hopefully without cracking!) Once it's completely dry (which might take awhile with this wintery weather), then I can bisque fire it, glaze it, and fire it again in the gas kiln. Wish me luck!
