Simple and tasty! Dhal Recipe Serves 4 - 2 cups red lentils, rinsed... - 1 tbsp canola oil - 1 tsp salt - 1 tbsp chopped ginger - 1 tsp cumin seeds - 6 cloves - 1 tbsp fennel seeds powder - 2 tsp ginger powder - 1 tsp cumin powder - 1 tsp coriander powder - 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder - 5 cups water 1- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a big pot over medium-high heat. 2- Once hot, start by frying the salt a little in the oil, then add the chopped ginger and stir until golden brown. 3- Add the cumin seeds and cloves, stir for a few seconds, then add all the powdered spices. 4- Immediately add the rinsed lentils, stir enough to coat the lentils with the spices. Then add the water. 5- Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and let simmer for about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. The dhal will become thicker and the lentils tender. Adjust salt. See more
