Do you need to renew your Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate? (Emergency First Aid for Industry, OFA Level 1)? Nervous about spending time in a classroom? We have a solution for you!! St John Ambulance now offers a blended course that allows the student to complete most of the course online, and reduces the amount of time needed in the classroom!!... This blended course is comprised of an ONLINE Self-study section and an IN-CLASS Practical section. The ONLINE Self-study section of the course will take approximately 4 hours and will require the use of a computer or laptop. This portion must be completed before the student can attend the IN-CLASS Practical section of the course. The IN-CLASS Practical section of the course is 4 hours long and must be completed within 30 days of the online section. Upon successful completion of both portions of the training, participants will receive a St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid for Industry certificate. This course meets First Aid requirements for: WorkSafeBC - Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 Canada Labor Code Basic First Aid Alberta Occupational Health & Safety (Emergency First Aid) Our upcoming ‘IN-CLASS PRACTICAL’ classes on the North Island are listed below! We are pleased to announce the release of a new St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid for Industry Blended Online/In-Class Course. This blended certification course provides the first aid training needed to qualify participants as an Emergency First Aid for Industry (OFA 1) attendants. This blended course is comprised of an ONLINE Self-study section and an IN-CLASS Practical section.... The ONLINE Self-study section of the course will take approximately 4 hours and will require the use of a computer or laptop. This portion must be completed before the student can attend the IN-CLASS Practical section of the course. The IN-CLASS Practical section of the course is 4 hours long and must be completed within 30 days of the online section. An update! As part of our phased-in reopening plan, we're pleased to announce the next set of our branches to open are our #CampbellRiver, #Nanaimo, and #Victor...ia locations on June 29. We want to assure you that you are in good, clean hands. Here's what you can expect when arriving for training: -Self-declaration will take place upon arrival and attendance will not be permitted if you are ill or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. - Students are required to bring or purchase both a pocket mask and non-surgical mask prior to course attendance. Product can be purchased in advance online (https://shopsafetyproducts.ca) or at the branch. - Physical distancing measures as well as enhanced cleaning measures have been put in place for student, instructor and staff safety. - Frequent hand washing/hand sanitizing is mandatory. - Lunchrooms will be closed until further notice (fridge & microwaves not accessible) You can register now online by visiting sja.ca or by contacting our customer care centre at 1-866-321-2651 or [email protected]. An update from us. These times are certainly unpredictable, but one thing remains true - the health and safety of our students, customers, volunteers and staff ...always comes first. Given this, the closure of our branches and halting of our training courses has been extended to May 4, 2020. For those who have future first aid course bookings, we will be waiving any change fees. If you were hoping to purchase any St. John Ambulance safety supplies during the time when our branch offices are closed, you can still find everything you may need online at shopsafetyproducts.ca. We will continue to monitor this situation day-by-day and will always follow the guidance of our public health authorities and government on how to best keep you safe and do our part in flattening the curve of the COVID-19 crisis. Short term extensions of Occupational First Aid Certificates Published on: March 20, 2020 https://www.worksafebc.com//short-term-extensions-of-occup Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, WorkSafeBC is granting extensions on any occupational first aid, or equivalent certificates, that are due to expire between March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020. These certificates will now be acceptable in the workplace for 90 days beyond their original expiry date.... Certificates will not be reprinted. First Aid Attendants and employers do not need to take any actions to qualify for the extensions. WorkSafeBC will continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and recommendations put forth by federal and provincial agencies, and should additional extensions be required we will release further information and direction at that time.

Here at St. John Ambulance, we are aware that the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has likely created stress and uncertainty in your community. As always, the health and safety of our students, staff, volunteers and visitors is our top priority, and because of this, we’re committed to doing our part in protecting the well-being of all. As of March 18 2020, we have decided to close our branch locations and halt all of our in person training courses, effective until April. 6, w...here we will then reassess the situation and follow the guidance from our public health authorities and the provincial government in how to move forward. Based on the ever-changing information we are receiving, we feel this is the best decision for our St. John Ambulance team and the community on a whole. For those who have existing first aid course bookings, we will be waiving any change or cancellation fees. For classes that are currently in session that are now cancelled, we will be moving your class to a future date to ensure you receive the appropriate training.
