Circus and its Others' conference planned for this month in Davis, California has been rescheduled for November 2021. But we didn't want to wait until that gath...ering to pursue our inquiries and to stay in touch! This is our first of several virtual events to happen over the course of the next months. The Uncle Junior Project "gives people the opportunity to learn, celebrate, and take pride in the inspiring history of blacks in the American circus." UJP founder, Veronica Blair, recently partnered with Felicity Hesed, a San Francisco based clown and storyteller, to create this video to encourage people in the US to vote. Veronica choreographed this aerial performance to complement the history of Ida B. Wells, a pioneer of the women's suffrage movement and anti-lynching act...ivist. She says the story of Ida B. Although #SJCircusFest was mainly online this year, we were lucky to have performers from iFLY Aerial Arts for a local pop-up at the The Johnson Geo Centre! Festival participants joined through our Digital Buddy program and tuned in via a video cell phone call. Special thanks to our festival photographer, Alick Tsui for capturing these amazing images!

A TOHU initiative, MICC - International Market of Contemporary Circus - is a global community dedicated to the creation, presentation, and touring of contemporary circus in North America and around the world. They also presented an amazing Pitch Session and Q&A, moderated by Ruth Wikler, that ran concurrent with the Festival.
