Calling all Cadet Correspondents!! The Canadian Forces Newspapers Youth Reporter Competition gives young people like you a unique chance to tell your story in p...rint, online or on social media with the help of Canadian Forces Newspapers journalists, editors and photographers. It could be something that is relevant to your life, or that of your family and friends, or it could be something that affects the wider world we live in - but which your own experience or reporting of can offer a unique perspective. The story must be original and about an issue or a personal experience or insight which has not been widely reported about before and/or reflects the life of the contributor or their friends and/or family. You should state why you think you reporting the story or issue will bring a unique perspective to it, but also how you would widen your report to look at the issues around the subject. Stories will be judged on editorial merit - that means the strength of story, originality, and the personal story or background around it. Judges will be looking for a range of diverse stories from across the military community. The winner will receive a grand prize package and a scholarship! Key Dates Application Deadline: December 31, 2020 Selection Committee: January 15, 2021 Finalists announced: January 25, 2021 Final article deadline: March 31, 2021 Articles published: May 1, 2021 Readership voting closes: May 31, 2021 Winner Announced: June, 2021 Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services - CFMWS

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will ...remember them. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Congratulations to Captain Adam Colbourne, our newest addition, on receiving the National Air Cadet League Officer of the Year recognition this year. He is a valuable asset to our squadron, we are very proud of his accomplishments.

We remember them 8 November, National #Indigenous Veterans’ Day At 11:00 am this past sunny Sunday morning, Lieutenant-Colonel Eric Willrich, Commanding Offic...er 437 Transport Squadron, placed the 8 Wing Defence Aboriginal Awareness Group’s wreath at the foot of the National Aboriginal Veterans Monument. The monument is located in Confederation Park, downtown #Ottawa and pays tribute to the many Indigenous men & women who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces over the years. I stood at the monument for a few moments and took the time to appreciate how it so beautifully represents the traditional beliefs of honour, duty and harmony with nature of the Indigenous people. It was a very touching moment - I am extremely honoured to have been able to represent the group I champion in this endeavour. - LCol E. Willrich
