Version 13 of the SCNL Return to Skating Document is now online: http://skatenl.com/covid-19/

Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador 02.11.2020

We realize our skaters and coaches are working on plans for the season and that clubs are also working with restrictions due to COVID-19. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. After careful consideration of the current COVID-19 restrictions, per the Department of Health, the Events Committee of Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador have recommended to SCNL that it is in the best interest of our skating community's health and well-be...ing to cancel the upcoming Eastern, Western and Labrador Divisionals in January 2021, SCNL Provincial Skating Championships in February2021, and STAR Challenge in March 2021. Sanctions for Interclub Events have also been suspended until further notice. Subsequently, this recommendation for cancellation has now been approved by Skate Canada NL Board of Directors. The Events Committee would like to thank all clubs for the submission of bids for these Events on the chance that we could have safely proceeded this season. As well, The Events Committee discussed alternative competition opportunities for skaters throughout the season and this matter is being referred to the Skating Programs Committee for development of innovative local/Regional and/or club based creative opportunities. It is hoped that by early December the Skating Programs Committee will be able to provide direction to the Events Committee/skating community regarding programming options. We thank everyone for their understanding this year. It is our hope that skaters and coaches are able to see the positives in this season and continue to develop the fundamentals that will carry them into an even better next season.
