On Thursday August 6 2020, in a small outdoor social distancing ceremony, we were finally able to honour the extraordinary achievements of some of our outstandi...ng STAR Skaters! We want to give a huge thank you to our Amazing Coaches, Rachel Stewart, Ashley Ross, Zoey Crockart and Jordyn Eberts!!! All your hard work and dedication that you put forth each and everyday has created a remarkable group of skaters who we are proud to have as part of the Castlegar Skating Club! It has been a season of laughs, bruises, cold feet, gold feet, travel, accomplishments, growth, shaving cream and cheese ball face makeovers, more laughs and many many firsts! We were lucky enough to have concluded our 2019/2020 on ice season with our annual Ice Show Welcome to the Movies, which was a fun filled event and a huge success! However, our entire world took an unexpected turn with the announcement and impact of the COVID 19 Pandemic in the days to follow. With the precautions held in place during the early stages of this world changing unprecedented time, we were faced with the fact that our Year End Awards Banquet would have to be put on hold.. At this time, we also want to recognize and give a BIG shout out and social distancing high 5 to ALL of our Skaters this past season! Where traditionally we would all gather for a nice dinner and ceremony, we were unable to follow that path this year but we are hopeful that the future seasons will soon enough allow us to celebrate in traditional fashion! Just like COVID 19 came out of nowhere and put a wrinkle in everything... During our small awards ceremony we found ourselves in the middle of a torrential thunder storm that also seemed to have come out of nowhere However, we still managed to get all the awards out to their recipients, although some may have gotten more soaked than others Many thanks to all who were able to attend and to those who weathered out the storm to help make this day a special one! We most definitely will never forget it. Also, a special thank you to the unsung hero who arrived amidst the downpour to help up pack up! ~ you know who you are Congratulations and thank you to the Castlegar Skating Club 2019/2020 Coaches, the Skaters, their families, the Executive, all the parent volunteers, the ice maintenance crew and everyone who helped make this a fun, successful and memorable season! Award Recipient posts to follow! Stay tuned.....

Dear member and registrants, Skate Canada is pleased to announce a Return to Skating Town Hall. Sections, clubs, skating schools, coaches, officials, and all Skate Canada members and registrants are invited to join the Return to Skating Town Hall on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 7pm EDT. Skate Canada and all Skate Canada Sections are united in returning to skating. We want to gather and discuss the many actions that have been taken over these last few months to get skating ba...ck onto the ice. Though skating has returned in some capacity, clubs, skating schools, and coaches must continue to follow the precautions outlined by their provincial and municipal governments and their local venue operators. In addition, all members and registrants are also required to follow the return to skating protocols developed by the respective Section and any other regulations issued by the Section. Due to the serious nature of the pandemic, failure to comply will result in Skate Canada taking appropriate actions up to and including suspension and/or non-renewal and/or expulsion of Skate Canada membership. A portion of the Town Hall will be dedicated to an open Q&A and a representative from Skate Canada and each Section will be available to answer any questions pertaining to COVID-19 protocols and the return to skating. Please save the date for Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 7pm EDT and join us on Microsoft Team’s here. To easily join the Town Hall please select ‘Join Anonymously’ or sign in with your Microsoft Account.
