Skate Martensville 01.01.2021

SKATERS & PARENTS: Thank you for your patience during this pause in our season. After careful consideration and planning, our executive and coaches have come up with a 2-week plan to allow our Pre-STAR and STARSkaters to get back to the ice starting January 5. Unfortunately our CanSkate and Adult Skate programs will remain paused until we receive further direction from the Chief Medical Officer and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Information on skate times and updated safety protocols have been emailed to all skating families. Please continue to check your emails and skatemartensville.ca for the latest information.

UPDATE: All skating activities and sessions have been suspended until the new year. As most of you probably already know, Wednesday the Saskatchewan government released new Covid-19 restrictions. One of them being that "athletes and dancers 18 years of age and under may continue practicing, conditioning and skills training in groups of eight or fewer, abiding by the required mask use and at least three metres of physical distancing between participants at all times. Our exe...cutive contemplated how we could accommodate this new restriction. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we have decided to extend the suspension of all Skate Martensville events/sessions until the new year. It would not be financially feasible for our club to continue with these restrictions as there would not be enough skaters on the ice to cover the cost of ice time, let alone the cost of our coaches. In addition, there would not be enough ice time during the week to allow each skater an equal opportunity to skate. Furthermore, with the fact that Covid-19 positive case numbers are continuing to rise in our province, we feel that this decision is in everyone’s best interest to keep us all safe and healthy. We hope you understand and will continue to support our club. We have high hopes that we will be able to continue our skating programs in January of 2021. January - March 2021 Canskate sessions: It is our hope and plan that we will be able to welcome back our PreStar, Star, and Adult skaters and all of our returning CanSkaters in the new year. We will be accepting registration for the upcoming Jan-Mar 2021 CanSkate session starting December 1, 2020. Registration forms and further information can be found online at skatemartensville.ca. Once again, thank you all for your continued understanding and co-operation. Our club cannot run without the support of our skaters and their families. Sincerely, Skate Martensville Executive

COVID-19 UPDATE: SKATING SEASON PAUSED Many of you have likely been hearing about the numerous positive cases of Covid-19 in our city lately. Skate Martensville takes the health and well-being of our skaters, families, and community very seriously and we want to do whatever we can to limit the spread of and the exposure to the virus. In a proactive measure, and in support of other clubs in our community, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all further skating acti...vities and sessions until at least December 1, 2020, effective immediately. Hopefully taking this time to pause and reset will allow us to get back on the ice soon. We will communicate any further changes or updates to you by email as usual. We want to reassure our skating families by saying that there have been no positive cases in our club reported to our Covid-19 Rep, executive, or coaches thus far. However, we know that in a small city such as ours, the virus could spread quickly and it is our responsibility to do whatever we can to keep us all safe. In an effort to be as proactive and responsible as possible, we continue to ask you to do your part in staying home as much as possible, wearing your masks, and keeping a social distance from all others not in your household. If at any moment, you or someone in your family is confirmed positive, please let us know. Your information will be kept confidential and will only be used to help determine any decisions that our executive needs to make to maintain the safety of our members going forward. We thank you all for continued understanding and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected] Stay safe everyone, Skate Martensville Executive

The health and safety of all participants in our club, including skaters, coaches, family, volunteers and the general public, is of the utmost importance to Skate Martensville. With the uncertainty surrounding the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Skate Martensville has decided to cancel the remainder of the season including the ice show, effective Friday, March 13, 2020. We recognize the tremendous effort that has been put forth this season by all members of our club and we are ...deeply saddened by the sudden end to our skating season. This is not a decision that was made lightly; however, the health and safety of everyone connected to our sport was paramount in the decision-making process. Moving forward, we feel this is the most responsible decision in keeping our skating family safe. The executive and coaches will have a plan to distribute report cards and year-end awards. The executive will be in contact with families in the near future with further details. The Ice Show Committee will be in touch in the next day or two with regards to returning costumes and refunds for Ice Show tickets and DVD purchases. Thank you for your support and understanding, Skate Martensville
